swg dave 334
As the title says, lamping is definitely my favourite sport, i love it. Great to watch a dog running that beam and how each chase is different, i love it when you have a squatter out a fair way in the field and the dog runs wide of the beam only to reappear with a lightning strike and snatches the rabbit from its seat or if you have a rabbit that is on the move and dog puts down that real quick burst of speed up the hedge and heads the rabbit off and connects just right before he reaches the safety of cover. I know that dogs dont catch every rabbit they run, and its nice to watch the ones that make it home, hats off to em. The rabbit truly is a hardy little creature that have have supplied me with coming up to 39 years of sport with dogs, ferrets, nets, longnets and guns. Ps dont know what id do if i didnt hunt... 5 Quote Link to post

I have also enjoyed a bit of bushing over the years all though i,ve never owned terriers myself, but watching a rabbit bolt for the lurcher,s is a great bit of sport, its all good, What you think boys, Quote Link to post

Irishhunter14 89
I like lamping but wouldn't call myself a lamper bu any means but never got it when people say they love dogs lifting rabbits out of the seat, too me that's a waste of a rabbit and a chase which is what i enjoy, everyone is different I suppose just wondering why people like it that's all Quote Link to post

But the way I see it , may as well be in pain out with me dog knocking over few rabbits etc over , than stuck in the house in pain . I am prob older than a lot of people on here who still work there lurchers, ive often wondered if lads+ women would still go lamping with fooked body at our / my age 62 prob not, as most prob got more bloody sense than me , well that's what my wife says 2 Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
Well,..I used to lamp rabbits every night,..even walked out on poor nights.. Years and years of it,..two weeks on,.following the moon phases, then,.two weeks off,.doing other things.. Nowadays,..I just cannot be arsed... Maybe if a guy comes calling and the night is black, with a chance of some plentiful sport on the Downs,..well perhaps. Other than that,..naaa,...I am all lamped out.... Enjoy your night walking lads,...I certainly did... Edited February 14, 2015 by Phil Lloyd 6 Quote Link to post
