I take it it`s an industrial site Joe? walk ways etc, alot of public about mate.. not sure how the local dog walkers will react Just tell them you have done it then if they dont need to see it... aye, i thought about that. best to have it, just incase. if everything is covered, will be no come backs, hopefully Edited February 13, 2015 by Joe1888 Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
I do a lot for the council, and almost every person who has walked by is fascinated by what I`m up to. The public are not quite as hostile as some want us to think mate. 2 Quote Link to post

darbo 4,774
You could google the code of good ferreting practise and take parts of it that you may find relevant to your risk assessment for the land you intend to go on. i have done this in the past. 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,474
Just basically if you dig a hole it will be properly filled in and your method of work won't harm or put you or anybody else in harms way Quote Link to post
fox digger 1,086
Basically a risk assessment is weighing up all the risks involved, i.e trip hazards, falling from a height if up on a bank, open excavations and malarki like that, risks you think you may possibly encounter during your course of action. Then do a list of precautions you will take to minimise or counteract the risks, i.e appropriate tools, manning an opened hole and not leaving it unattended, approprate safty footwear for digging, gloves and so on.... A risk assesment is an arse covering exercise for employers or owners. You list the risks involved, somthing happens and you havent taken the precautionary measures listed then you are basically at fault as you knew the risks, how to minimise or prevent them and you've failed!!! We do hundreads of them every week for working underground!! Pain in the ass.... 1 Quote Link to post
Leeview 791
I had to fill one out for a show I attend with the ferrets, basically I put "ferrets have been known to bite, mine are well socialised and have nt bit anyone yet" the organisers said fine that will do. Rating 0(nil) probably unlikely to happen Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
OldhamLad 66
In boxed ! Fox Digger good point however the main issue is the risk to the general public / workers appropriate to permission not to yourself regarding tripping etc And there a pain in the arse until one day they bail you out of Legal Action ! If anyone would like any tips / help creating or completing their RAs just inbox me im more than happy to help 1 Quote Link to post

If anyone would like any tips / help creating or completing their RAs just inbox me im more than happy to help the only risk assessments ive ever done are ones relating to specific tasks at work (several every day) and they are all about the individuals involved in carrying out a specific task safely..... im sure there are different types of risk assessments but if a farmer is asking for one before the chap goes ferriting im sure its related to the task he is going doing and not the general public or other people...... just my opinion...
