toby63 1,236
depends on what shot gun you have and what loads you can put through it Quote Link to post

Lol......thing is mate since I've stopped all that I've got a different approach. Was putting the dogs away the other night when I saw a dog chasing a vixen about in my field. Instead of rushing in for the .222 I just watched them......wtf...lol 1 Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
A heavy load of number 3s will do the job nicely, with 3s you hit him with plenty of shot, almost guaranteeing something will reach a vital organ, the bigger shot, whilst having a lot of energy, and will kill instantly if a vital organ is struck, can develop holes in the pattern quickly, and keep the range down, 30 yards max. 2 Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
I can recommend RC 50's in #3 if your gun is ok for 3" magnums. Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
I've only ever tried 42g 1's and they have done the job every time. Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
The lighter the cartridge the shorter the range. I've shot plenty with a pigeon load of no'6. If you're specifically after fox use BB or something similar and keep it under 40yrd. Quote Link to post

Alimac2 321
42g 3s through a tightish choke. As a guage they will kill a fox at the same distance the average shooter can kill a pheasant with a 6. Beyond this range it's arguable that it shouldnt be shot at at all with a shot gun.. 1 Quote Link to post
