tomburras 2,730
If it's a 200 tdi I seen engine covers on eBay and I got a pack of adhesive backed 4mm foam sound proofing sheet (not fitted yet so can't comment how good it works) my plan is to line under the bonnet and cover the bulkhead wire holes. I get a lot of noise coming from the engine through the wire holes either side of the fuse box. My plan is to cover theese with adhesive foam also on the engine bay side of the bulkhead. Even If the rubber gromets for the wires have a slight gap from not been seated properly the noise difference is huge! That's my soundproofing plan anyway, this combined with an engine cover I'm sure will make a huge difference!
Rake aboot 4,936
It`s a Landrover. Keep it a month and it will go completely silent for a prolonged period of time.
sussex 5,777
I found the best way to stop the rattling sound was park it up & buy a Toyota...Having had 5 landrovers it was a relief when I finally admitted defeat , noise & breakdowns are now a thing of the past .....ps the Toyota has a heater as well ..
h tomlin 11
Lol I've had jap trucks I know [BANNED TEXT] you mean just always fancied a defender had it about 6 months now enjoy driving it but could do with some soundproof under the hood and you'll be surprised to hear the heater works fine lol atb H
sussex 5,777
I was ok with them as long as I didn't have a long run , around the farm they were fun , but any sort of distance was hard work ..I drive a 101 (flat fronted ) around some shoot days with the loaders on board & even as wet as it's been it rarely gets stuck , but on the road its a nightmare , the noise is unbeliveable & any thought of driver comfort was just that ....a thought ..nothing else .. Have fun .
h tomlin 11
Yeah there not very refined compared to the jap trucks but there's something about them it's like marmite so they say love um or hate um plus the spare parts are cheaper just need more of them lol

tomburras 2,730
Yeah tomburus got a place up the rd for parts I'll talk to him about the soundproofing take it your a Landy man I love mine but have to fix it a lot lol. Luckily I have a parts place 2 mins walk away. Parts are cheap! But I'd avoid britpart for some stuff. They may take a bit of looking after but they give a lot back in return!
