keepitcovert 842
Been given a copy of the shooting times dated march 9th 1962, intresting article inside entitled coursing with salukis by Henry Moorhead about a coursing meet for salukis and borzois which took place on feb 23rd of that year, the kerison stakes for 16 salukis of all ages, £20 and trophy for the winner, also the cleve stakes for 7 salukis of all ages 20gns and trophy for the winner. Outcome was winner of kerison trophy was kumasi sharif owned by mr mrs j evans. Winner of the cleve trophy Mrs H N Evans Kumasi Amir. Now i cant remember the date i first saw a saluki or saluki lurcher coursing but it was a long time after these dates. No doubt some of the coursing lads on here could probably tell me the approx date they made an apperance on the coursing scene and if this lineage is still on the go, as some of the coursing posts on here are like something off genes reunited. slip lead 862
Late 70,es, a lot of 3/4 grey 1/4 sal about, as most said, anymore saluki made them to slow, wasn't until mid/ late 80'es that the 3/4 sal 1/4 grey started showing on big land/matches that they take some beating and 99% of dogs winning comps early 90'es most were 3/4 sal. 1 Quote Link to post
