Joe1888 672
Sky and BT are set to play £5.136 billion for three years of of tv rights for the EPL. A good few £ short of NFL and NBA get, still a crazy amount of money... As the the tv £ rises so will the asking price/value of average players.. Wonder if the Scottish prem will get a similar deal Edited February 10, 2015 by Joe1888
cragman 2,791
And so we will plagued by more foreign players, eager to line their pockets before they retire aged 30! All to the detrement of the national team and grass roots footy. 250K a week and worth every penny? Do me a favour. I hope they reduce the price of tickets, otherwise the game's had it.
Joe1888 672
Theres about £56 million of it getting pumped into grass roots, each year! Winners of the spfl get something like £2.5 million for winning the league and the team relegated from the epl gets about £65 million.. There was a post on here a while ago, asking why scots dont produce the quality players they used to... Would be great to see the same companys improving the the tv deal for spfl abit, could help the game up here alot Edited February 11, 2015 by Joe1888

Brigzy 1,298
As I said on another thread, I can't understand why people pay £40/60 to watch the dross served up by my local EPL teams, but people do. There's a report that only Real Madrid and Barcelona , and five other EPL teams, that will make more money than Newcastle United, due to this new TV deal. Yet Newcastles stated aim is only to survive in the Premier...no cups, no Europe, simply survival to keep getting the TV riches. As for Scotland; the only chance for survival of Scottish football at the highest level, is to amalgamate with The Football League/Premier League. There are precedents; Berwick play in Scotland, and Welsh teams play in England. Only problem I could see with this, is that FIFA would then call for a "British team" for the world and Euro competitions. Teams like Celtic are falling way behind, simply because of the lack of money, I for one would welcome them into the Premier.
cragman 2,791
From 2016/17 the team finishing bottom of the prem league will pocket £99M!! Cardiff picked up £55.3M in 2013 for coming bottom, more than the Spanish la liga winners, ligue 1 winners (French) and German league winners. I suppose the way to go is to be a sports agent, they're on mega bucks.
