Kay 3,709
who remembers the concrete chocolate pudding and mint custard at school... Pre heat oven to Gas Mark 4 or 180c 8 oz Self Raising Flour 1 oz Cocoa powder 6 oz caster sugar 6 oz butter 1 egg Melt the butter in a pan. Place flour, sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl and mix together. Add the melted butter and the egg to the dry ingredients and combine. Grease a tray bake or swiss roll tin (approx 1inch deep). Put the mixture in the tin and pat it down until level and even. Bake for 15 mins if you like it soft. If you prefer it like real chocolate concrete bake for 15 mins, then turn the oven right down and leave it on the bottom shelf for another 15-30 mins depending on how crunchy you want it! Sprinkle with a little caster sugar while still warm. cover with minty custard and curl up on the sofa. Freezes well.
walshie 2,804
Obviously I'm not as old as you Kay, but I remember the concrete chocolate pud. We didn't have mint custard though. We had that awful pink custard that tasted of perfume.

comanche 3,038
I've blanked school dinners from my mind. I only recall the vomit-making domes of what was passed-off as mashed potato. I saved my dinner money until I had £10 and bought a Relum air rifle. Funnily It came via Mum's club book and she didn't think to question how I'd saved £10. Edited February 10, 2015 by comanche
