swg dave 334
Popped out last night knowing the moon was in its near full beam, but me and a friend decided it would give the jook,s a bit of exercise plus if there was anything out it would be a bonus. when we arrived at a place that just me and my mate lamp, we get in the fields lamp on expecting that we will see a couple close to the edge being weather condition and moon up could not of wished for a better night, rabbits sitting right out and some even squatting. It was a cold old night but luckily for us the frost had not set in. We ended up with 10 rabbits and was more than happy with our dogs performance. We decided to call it a night, so we gutted the shoosh out, dogs had a treat each with a couple of shooshoi hearts and kidney,s which they could,nt wait to get down em. A very unexpected good enjoyable night for both us and the dog,s, and on our departure found a few fields that are very well stocked, for another night.. Well happy.. Have any of you boys ever had a night on a full moon and everything turns out right in your favor.. Cheers SWG DAVE 1 Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,034
Been out many times when the moons full or nearly full,,,somtimes with spectacular failure ,,,,but other times with results,,,,but even with a full moon there's things you can do to optimise results,,, Wind is an obviouse advantage,,,but other things like looking at the moon rise and set times,,,,there are times during the cycle when the moon rises very late in the night,,,so go earlier,,,,or use other things to your advantage,,,like lamping in fields next to roads,,,and using the trafic noise,,to hide you,,, I used to do place along a river bank,,,with a very fast flowing river,,that masked noise,,,it also had a line of big trees that thew a good shadow,,you could use to walk in,,,, So just think outside the box,,,and use common sence 8 Quote Link to post

Omanyra 2,518
Been out loads of times with the moon on, never been put off by it smiling at us, and your always praying for that little piece of cloud in the distance to come this way and give you a hand.. Had some decent scores on these nights, the only this that stopped us was FOG At least you were out matie, better than the part time brigade whinging about there being a moon on.. Good on ya 1 Quote Link to post
Hands of Stone 154
Alot depend on the weather for the previous days/nights... if its been frozen solid for 2 or 3 days and then that night was the 1st night of not frost then it could bring the bunnies out??? 1 Quote Link to post
