Might aswell go from the start ! I left my house straight from work Wednesday after work to head for a b&b in Yorkshire all pack and ready to go up to the kennels to pick the dog up and few other bits and peices and I head off about half hour from the kennels phone rings ow you've left sky in the yard I'd forgotten the bloody dog !! So headed back take two !! After a 4 and half hour drive I arrived lovely little place and to my amazement I walk in and it was band night in the pub I was staying full of youngsters took dog up to the room and she was sleeping so down stairs for a few and a chat to random people !! ( particuarly the good looking bar maid ) Well the morning had come I was up early dog was bouncing around she new something was going on vin was late had to change his coffee in McDonald's 3 times ! We head up to the spot the lads had chosen for my day a nice hill which im use to where I live ! Pulled up and met tomo be of a chat and off we went with rabbits being in short number around my way my bitch was like a idiot wanted to hunt and chase everything in a mile radius of us so left her blow off some steam and came down on the way up when we got to the top me and vin went one way tomo the other then the fun started ! My bitch has never really ferreted only done it few times so we left her and vins bitch mooch about till we got a mark and vin very generously leaded Doris up to give my bitch some runs by 12 we had a good few numbers in the bag and my bitch was marking set after set and waiting around the bury listening was great to watch ! We found tomo around half two he had a good number with his pup but he had to shoot off leaving it to us ! We headed back down getting a few on the way down never seen so many rabbits in my life ! Back to van bit of food for the dogs and off to get fish and chips for us bloody lovely ! After a hour or so we head off back lamping couple runs for my bitch and could see she was sore and tired so decided to lead her up was no need to push her and I was happy to watch vins bitch spin a few always liked to watch other peoples dogs ! Im not really sure on numbers totally lost count and was in my own little world most the day !! I'd like to thanks tomo and vin for the day it was absolutely outstanding iv got a few videos and vin has but I have no idea how to put the on here and I didn't take many photos and I was enjoying myself to much haha Here's one or two 34 Quote Link to post

Guest vin Posted February 6, 2015 Report Share Posted February 6, 2015 It was a long but cracking day that started at 4am and finished at 11pm for me. Young Owain's dog "Sky" was a delight to have around and so was Owain. . . top lad, The dog did him proud and it was an absolute pleasure to stand back and watch it learn a few new tricks over the space of one day. She was all over the place at start of day because she's never been around so much game and her senses were in overdrive,every horizon had more game and she was like a kid in sweet shop..lol. She soon settled a down and realized they were there for the taking and she started marking up and working the warrens like a seasoned pro. . she had no trouble catching the bolters and her retrieves were spot on every time..there was so many moments that were so good to see its hard to put it down in words,All I can say is If that was my dog i would be a happy man and very content in the knowledge that she is a great little dog. She worked her socks off all day long and by the time they had been fed and laid down for a while in the back of the van i knew we would'nt be out for a long night. . .the dogs were physically tired and it was a very very wise man that said "she's done enough and its time to stop her running". the dog had more in the tank and a foolish man would have taken it further with the amount of rabbits available...But young Owain has on older wiser head on his shoulders. Fair minded men and generous in their praise... When I was a young man,..ALL hunting men were like them,...genuine and honest... What the feck went wrong with our game...
