Hi All, needing suggestions on what's going on with my setup please.

Gamekeeper pr5, 20mm-15mm double theraband gold cut at 8" in length, 34" draw length to just behind my ear lobe.

My problem is I'm shooting 12mm leads and no matter what I hit and where I hit it, its not dropping. To make this clear I dispise inhumane shooting of any sort I shoot shotgun and pcp aswell and always go for a humane kill.

I shot a feral - for the ferret at an estimated 3 metres, maybe less, under a bridge on a permission - 3 times with a 12mm lead in the crop and breast for a load of feathers to blow everywhere and for it to still sit there. ( headshot wasn't available as I was directly underneath it) I took along m10 hexnuts and on the 4th shot, shot it with that for it to penetrate the crop and kill it outright. Literally 20 minutes before this I shot a squirrel at maybe 5 metres up with an m10 to kill it outright ( it spasmed and hung on for 5 seconds then dropped) ithink this hit just behind the front leg.

I shot another feral on another occasion with 12mm lead under the same bridge and it flew off in a puff of feathers, yet on a different occasion under the same bridge no word of a lie, I shot a feral with a m10 at maybe 2 -3 metres for it to completely pass through the crop and hit the other pigeon sat next to it and drop it, albeit it needed dispatching properly afterwards, this was when my bands were fresh i'm not sure if that makes a difference. I keep reading how lead is superior and the theory seems to sound about right to me but in practice it just doesnt seem to be working.

Can anyone explain why this is happening please or maybe offer a theraband gold taper that is going to work. I'm aimimg for the most humane and balanced setup for 12mm lead.

Thanks in advance lads.

Thank you for the suggestions lads, I have a setup with looped 1745 amber, cut at 6 " per side very snappy with a hard draw I use it mainly for plinking, I'll try some [BANNED TEXT]'s on a few tins and have a look at the damage, anyone have any opinions on 30-20 single tbg? Think I'm in the market for a new catapult if this is the case haha, roosika where did you get your milbro shape with the blue asda bands from? And what wood is it?

Thanks again fellas

Woodys seem to clatter off if I get within 40 yards of them haha think I'm going to give single bands and m/8's a try

Longers do you have any catapults for sale? :)

I'm using straight cut 25mm singles with M/8 my favourite combo at the minute. I dont see the need for tapering the bands. 1745 works great too.

what wood was it longers, it was nice colour and shape aswel. Is it a pocketable size? If you knock a few up for sale anytime let me know :)

Are you maxing the bands at 25 straight wally? And getting mostly clean kills? Its blowing my mind all these different bandsets lol

The ones im using i cut so they are almost maxed out at my normal draw length, just because i dont like the bump feeling of them maxing out. Really easy draw compared to doubles but more than enough for m/8 nuts. All clean kills but I have only taken a few headshot collared doves and pigeons with it.
