cocpops 19
My permission , once over run with rabbits has been decimated this past few years with maxi ! Would ferreting rabbits from a healthy area to repopulate. 1. Be permitted ? 2. If so when would be the best time to proceed. The farmer is fine with this.

dillydog 8,514
The new rabbits would pick up the mixi as soon as they use the warrens, it's the fleas that pass it on and they can lay dormant for a very long time

Lid 194
What kind of farmer wants rabbits on his land? We were expected to reduce the population to a minimum on most permissions we had and then gas the remainder. Some rabbits on this land will be resistant and they will produce a new population in few years time. this will last until genetic mutations reduce the resistant population again. And so on for ever. The one 8,535
As said these a reason there's no rabbits on your ground and that would need to be fixed before you released any or your fighting a loosing battle I reckon mate
Neal 1,888
It could be worse...you could have my permission...they're so rare I had to look it up in a field guide when I saw one before xmas!
Truther 1,579
Iv'e released rabbits to build the numbers up a bit locally, i hoped mixing the genes up might give them more immunity to myxi? It did work for about 3 years, a good percentage of rabbits got myxi but beat it, numbers were good (for here) before the harvest this year, but its died a death since and im back to square one? Every now and again we see strange coloured rabbits in different areas, and its a guarantee that shortly after there's an outbreak of myxi that wipes nearly everything out, i think its being done on purpose despite it being illegal, a mate reckons its the railways that do it, i wouldn't be surprised? And talking to other lads i know on the net the same's happened where they live, weird coloured rabbits appear and myxi breaks out soon after.

charlie caller 3,654
It is against the law in England, cant say if this applies to Scotland, I have noticed this coloured bunny thing as well, twice on a permission I have, when I first got it, about 8 years back, it was teeming with rabbits, we started to see/shoot one or two white/ginger ones, then bang myxy, they recovered quite well, until a couple of years back, again different coloured ones turned up, and hey presto myxy again, now the numbers are pretty low, so there may be something in this theory.
