LIGHT ON LIGHTS OUT 71
You cant talk about one without other. You wont see a good hare run at its best without a good dog running it. Regardless of terrain 2 Quote Link to post
shaaark 10,943
the ground is all the same pre or post ban just the laws that are different Don't agree with that. A fair bit of land in some of the areas I've been going to has changed over the years. One area in particular, many years ago was firm under foot for hare, dog and man, now the last maybe 7 or 8 years it's very wet and boggy. Plenty of areas where the land's geology can and does change Quote Link to post
fourlurchers 280
the question was, what is the best type of land to see a pre ban hare run to its best , land that favours the hare not the dog and with fair law not having the dog hanging out the back of the hares arse Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
Shaaark ground conditions will change due to the rise and fall of the water table this can be affected by climatic change, construction of buildings and roads even forestry and landscaping but the land has the same changes for the dog and the quarry, the changes in the hunting with dogs act have had effects the length and breadth of the country much more than the changes in the land that was the point I was making. A hare running on a turf or seed field on an upward incline will run its best in my opinion as up hill a hare is tailor made for it Edited February 5, 2015 by desertbred 2 Quote Link to post

TheDeal 63
On the wet seed when your dogs sinking and hares flying over the top then you see what your dogs made ofI DONT AGREE.WHEN YOUR DOG IS SINKING TO ITS WRISTS YOUR RUNNING YOUR DOG AT A DISADVANTAGE AND THATS JUST STUPID. YOUR DOG IF BETWEEN35/75 IBS IS 4/5 TIMES HEAVIER THAN A HARE WHO WILL SKIP ALONG THE SURFACE WHILE YOUR DOGS CONSTANTLY DIGGING A WHOLE. TOO ME THATS NOT A FAIR RACE. IF YOUR GIVING THE HARE FAIR LAW AND ITS SEES THE DOG EARLY YOUR RUNNER HASNT A HOPE IN HELL OF GETTING ON TERMS WITH IT. HARD OPEN GROUND SHORT GRASS FAIRLAW NOW WEVE GOT A REAL 1 ON1. That's how you test a dog to see if it can do its job big start on the wet I don't walk all day looking for kick ups And if you run hares regular you would know not to run hard ground that's unfair the dog will bust it's feet up and most dogs will struggle to turn.
