Patterd Ales 59
What possesses these idiots to commit such abuse as seen on the news recently? Many/most of us take the lives of animals, some no doubt farm. I would hope none would behave like those clowns caught on camera. A real shame that slaughter has been removed from those that care for the animals in the first place. They should be the ones hanging from the rotating hooks, twitching.
Born Hunter 17,751
It was pretty disgusting behaviour from what I saw. Zero professionalism about it.

sandymere 8,263
Right there they are definitely Homo sapiens, a member of the great apes killing a different species of animal, Ovis aries wasn’t it lol. “Between 2009 and 2011, Animal Aid filmed secretly inside nine randomly chosen British slaughterhouses. We found evidence of cruelty and lawbreaking in eight of them. The problems are serious and widespread. Our films revealed animals being kicked, slapped, stamped on, and picked up by fleeces and ears and thrown into stunning pens. We recorded animals being improperly stunned and going to the knife while still conscious. We filmed animals deliberately and illegally beaten and pigs burned with cigarettes.” http://www.animalaid.org.uk/h/n/CAMPAIGNS/slaughter/ALL/// Religion/ Halal etc is irrelevant, some are just cruel. Mind I’d watch whose campaigns one publicises, what are Animal Aids views on hunting, farming etc. Some pick strange bed fellows for a hunting site.

day worker 296
The joke here is if I was to despatch an animal in the field by this method it would be deemed as cruel. Yet here we are legally allowing this all in the name of religion! Double standards again.

day worker 296
My problem isn't with the method it's the fact if I do it I'm cruel and could face imprisonment but if I follow a crackpot religion it's absolutely fine! Tell me how that is right!

If anything is done in the name of Islam a blind eye is turned and we are quickly ushered on to something else Cutting an animal throat is cruel and barbaric unless it has been stunned first

Yet here we are legally allowing this all in the name of religion! Double standards again. Who would deem you as cruel, Animal Aid and their like? You would only be prosecuted if it could be shown you had acted to cause/inflicted unnecessary suffering. Unless of course they ban halal then there would be a legal precedent to prosecute anyone putting an animal out of its misery, say found injured in a field. As I say some strange bed fellows for a hunting site who feel killing an animal in a quick clean manner offensive.
