armdog 196
So at 5:45 this morning im going along whipperdale bank, across the moor near grinton youth hostel, in the middle of the road is a tawny owl eating a dead rabbit, with no where to swerve ( single track road) i hit the owl, i stopped and picked up the poor creature which appeared dead! Theres an old guy i know who rescues owls, i thought this looks perfect condition he might want to get it stuffed, i put the limp lifeless body in the boot and proceeded to work, i arrived at work and something in my head just said check the dead owl was dead, well it wasnt, id just knocked it out ! after a few hours in the dark it perked up no end , when Raye finally arrived to collect the owl it was nearly flying around the boot! Hes taken it away to check it over , give it a couple of days to recover then hes going to bring it back to me to release ( after its been ringed and registered) in the same place i hit it , main moral to story is if you hit something in your car check its dead , before you drive away ! armdog 196
spoke to the owl man today and he thinks the birds is blind in 1 eye , not as a result of me hitting it, but an old injury, probably why it didnt see me coming, it ate 2 chicks last night and is doing well , all set for release on thursday

squab 2,875
I once heard how a fox was presumably shot dead on a drive only to jump out the game bag later that day and make its escape, tall story maybe but who knows
