Gaz6br 193
Well where do I start ha Well meeting point was at 7:30am at the ground we all arrived, quick coffee and a plan of attack and we was set. Apart from jocky turning up on his first day ferreting with me without his ferrets, how do you do that lol????? Any way on with the action we had purse nets going, long nets and stop nets all on the job The most amazing thing all day was my black lab she's 5 years just, never been ferreting in her life, only use her for picking game. But after yesterday she caught that rabbit as we was clearing the bank I thought what the hell why not, and I'm so glad I did I'm sure jocky will agree. She never missed a beat all the dogs I have get indroduced to the ferrets with out fail plus they live next to each other so no issue there. She marked the holes fantastic she held the rabbits in the purse and longnets and even dug 2 out and brought them alive to hand ( as I would expect with any game and a lab anyway ) she was a great all round help Another amazing thing that happened, I was stood half way up the bank rabbit bolted from a un netted hole dog set off as the rabbit turned up hill it tuck a big jump and I caught it in mid air lol I've never done or seen anything like that in 18 years of ferreting. We did miss 5/6 but the cover was still up in places but ended the day on 19, done for 1:30 and off for a pint I'm sure jocky will fill you in more I might of forgot stuff, but enjoy the pics 3 holer she just marked and yes another rabbit 1 dig all day Mark Result Another Keen now lol New team member Not the biggest day, but one of the most enjoyable Hope you enjoy Gaz 8 Quote Link to post

luckyplum 50
well done lads and really well done the lab ! i once ferreted some rabbits out of a big old industrial yard where one of the blokes working there had a big old lab wondering around, the dog followed me round all morning taking a great interest in the rabbits and the ferrets and i thought then that the first cross lab/grey would make a decent ferreting/mouching dog.cheers plum ! 2 Quote Link to post
jocky 198
thats what i said to gaz. he was on about geting a beddy/whippet. i said he woudl get a good ferreting dog if he put a whippet over his lab, its only a small lab. Quote Link to post

darbo 4,776
A good result nice to read of a dog doing good on the ferreting other than a lurcher or terrier both of which i hold in high regard been present over the years when the odd mongrel have done well. Quote Link to post
