Mixedgrill 704
I'm in a dilemma about using a lurcher dog over my bitch thing is this dog is a machine he is capable of finishing off anything but the dog on a run will stop at gates, fences if you get my drift, the mates I hunt with say give it a wide birth but I would breed from it cause of its game Ness, What do you think lads Quote Link to post

Night Walker 591
I would use the dog if that's all your worried about does your bitch jump when on a run? Jumping is surely part trained and part past down through the dogs parentage? 2 Quote Link to post
spindolero 1,111
you can teach it to jump but you cant teach it bottle 2 Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
If he stops at gates-fences or whatever then he aint game, saw dogs that would go through fences-ditchs without breaking a stride, and a lot of game imo is caught along the hedge-fence line. 5 Quote Link to post

matt1979 766
I have to agree with others it's not always easy to watch but all the runners I have grown up with would smash through anything to get at game, often with nasty outcomes but at the end of the day that's what running dogs should do IMO cheers Quote Link to post

The gamest and most resolute of mutts will never reach their potential if they lack a little stewardship and basic lurcher training, the ability to navigate obstacles and jump is as basic as training gets, yet some owners neglect what some of us see as standard, then their mates blame the dog. 6 Quote Link to post

If the dog was truly game and really wanted its quarry it would have learned to get over round under through any obstacle ... IMHO if a dog won't bust a gut go get to what it wants then it can't be really that game ...... 2 Quote Link to post

No matter the lack in early training or entering a dog that wants its game will bust a lung to get it ........ 1 Quote Link to post
