Gerald Lee: Urging residents to be vigilant

A COUNCILLOR has urged residents to report owners of lurcher dogs to the police following an ‘intimidating’ incident in his ward.

Councillor Gerald Lee, ward councillor for Heighington and Coniscliffe, recently expressed his concerns about lurcher dogs in the area.

A young man walking in Redworth wood was left feeling threatened and intimidated by a group of eight men with lurcher dogs.

In an email, Cllr Lee said: “As he walked through the wood he found a fox that had been mauled and whilst he could not say if the killing had been done by the lurchers it seems a good bet that it was.

“On his return he had to pass the dogs and their owners once again and this was not a pleasant experience.”

He added: “Threatening behaviour and intimidation, lurchers killing our animals and the lurchers accompanied by unsavoury characters are all unacceptable to the way of life we live and the quality of life we share, so we all must try to stop these kinds of activities which are abhorrent to us all.

“We are all fortunate to be living in a wonderful area with lots of wildlife surrounding us.

“It is important we respect our good fortune by doing all we can to protect the woods and all of the animals and bird life that life there.”

Urging residents in the area to be vigilant when out walking or driving, he continued: “If you see people with lurcher dogs ring the police immediately.

“If you see vehicles parked along any of the roads that provide access into the wood, take down the registration number and if possible, the make and colour of the vehicle and feed it to the police or myself.”

sounds to me as if the 8 lads with Lurchers were minding their own business and the nosey billy no mates was the one intent on making mischief by exagerating the event and the c**t of a Mayor jumping to conclusions regarding the 8 lads and describing them as unsavoury characters just because they had lurchers with them. The Mayor should sort his civic duties out and allow the police to do some crime prevention and detection instead of being meithered by tree hugging Mayoral arse lickers.

But where's the proof of the threats? Lies lies lies. The anti Kunts in belfast were showing people fox pelts the other day. Then saying about banning hunting. They bought the fox skins from an American company. Gurning over here about fur farming in china???? Then wank Mitchell off u105 was giving them air time on the radio. Didn't a hunt sab say they saw 250 hounds rip a fox to shreds and they are distraught by it. They claimed a certain hunt was responsible. Which the guy is a personal friend of mine and it only has around 60 hounds. And frank the wank believed it. How in the hell did he see A fox in the middle of 250 hounds is beyond me. And dopey frank Mitchell believed it all.

Sounds to me like discrimination,Im sorry but we are a minority group yes, if we was another minority group and a councilor had said something that seemed to tar us all with the same brush for something that sounds to me like hear say and only that the public would be calling on him to step down, But add a fluffy cute defenceless wild animal into the mix and they get away with it.

We certainly are a minority group who have no help from them that like to jump on a band wagon double standards country needs to give its head a shake.
