Snake Hips

Recommended Posts

Took my pup snake hips out for a couple of mile walk tonight on the tarmac for a change from the fields. Seen charlie boy at a distance and so did the pup, by the time I put the pup on his lead, charlie was off.Pup is starting to thrive now and I think he has passed the skinny stage, and got some meat on his bones now. So wont be stressing if he is missing a meal here or there.

Couple of pics

Cheers lads. I bought him some beef mince about a week ago off a fella that sells to a lot of local dog people and the pup has just been turning his nose up to it. So I didn't want to throw it away. So earlier I put some in a bowl with the blood after defrosting it and put it in for 1 min 40 secs left it for a few minutes and he ate it. So tried him with it raw again and didn't want to know. Put some more in micro same proccess and he ate it again.

Would this take much of the health benefits from eating raw away?

Would this be boiling his food as it is cooking in it's own blood or fying?

Would say his fav food is Ox or lamb heart and would to much of of these be unhealthy?

I try not to give more than 20% of the overall diet as offal, and it's probably nearer 10 - 15%. I don't think you should rely on hearts as making up the bulk of his diet. Try and give him plenty of meaty bones.

I don't rely on hearts for the main part of his die krawdent. I wish I could because there probably the only food he hasn't turned his nose up to. What meaty bones do you give your dog?

Bulk of what I feed is rabbit, chicken and turkey. Costs nowt - rabbits caught by the dog and/or ferrets, the chooks are ex-layers I get given from a couple of local farms and I get given hundreds of turkey heads & necks just before Christmas from a local turkey farm.

No farms round here mate. Where packed in like sardines. All local butchers get there meat in prepared. Get about 20 carcassess for 50p, beef mince for 50p lb, chicken mince 45p a lb, green tripe cheaper than that but my pup won't entertain it. Get fatty lamb off cuts from kebab shops. Get some just about to go off beef cuts from 1 butcher and bones that arn't very meaty and more fatty for about a £1 or 2.The tight fooker shouldn't even charge me for them as they are going in the bin. So all in all not bad really, just took a bit of time to source, but I am always on the look out. Get a bit of quarry of any lads I go out with as I only have the pup. I did have some puppy beta which lasted for about 3 months, quite a bit of it got binned, after refusing to eat it. Got him some beta greyhound now just incase he becomes picky again. He will eat that a couple of times a week. I only have one of them tall fridge freezers (just for dog food), with 3 freezer draws in so space is tight, which is a pain in the arse.

I try and work it 70% meat 20% bone and 10% organ, she rarely doesn't eat and if she doesn't eat it within half hour I take it away and try after another walk.post-59917-0-62424500-1422524644_thumb.jpg
