Longers7 720
After about a year of shooting using my right fork tip as an aiming marker on my catty, closing one eye, pulling to anchor point etc etc, I've just started shooting instictively with both eyes open, I don't know why I've started doing this, but my shooting is so much better!! I haven't really shot for a couple of months, but decided to have a little target plink tonight, without realising I've just naturally started shooting this style! Think I'll be sticking to instinctive from now on! What style of shooting does everybody else use? Aiming or instinctive?
Chuck Rock 18
Bit of both. I aim small fast ammo, like steelies and M 8 nuts. For big stuff like pebbles using squares I just let it fly. I'm more accurate aiming really, but not bad shooting instinctive. I shoot instinctive in my right hand and aim if i shoot with my left, for what it's worth - right handed for out the car window, left handed for mooching. I would probably be better if I stuck to one style but where's the fun in that?!
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
Used to shoot instinctive and do ok. Since ive started aiming though I wouldn't go back, more accurate than ive ever been
iamdrglass 15
I have only been shooting serious since Christmas. I line up and aim, then open both eyes. My skills have greatly increased over a short period of time. I am trying to shoot at least 100 shots a day. If I continue to improve at the same rate of progress I will be cutting cards in a couple of months......I am not saying that to brag but I do pay close attention to aiming and working on my release. Aim small miss small.

Aim small miss small. Forget all that cutting cards nonsense, get out and head shoot a pigeon when it's 10m up a tree! Practise to long on a catch box, you end up a bit one track minded as the target is pretty much always the same height and distance away....... Plus playing cards don't taste very nice ;-)

iamdrglass 15
I am currently shooting across the kitchen and dinning room. I do agree that standing in one spot at the same distance can cause issues. But I also think that practicing on different size targets and at different angles does help. When I am shooting handguns once I know my zero then I like to shoot at golf balls or spent shot gun shells. Because they are small and active. Once you hit one or near hit they will fly some where else causing me to refocus. I love to shoot stuff whether it be rifle, handguns, or bows, and now catapults. One of the main reasons I got into them is I can shoot inside the house or out in the yard when I feel like it. I also have more opportunity to hunt closer to home and near houses with out drawing to much attention. So to bring it back to the topic on hand even while shooting handguns I try and aim with both eyes open. And shotguns well its all about I STINK SHOOTING

Longers7 720
Lol, a catty stick is a good idea, better if you shoot forks up, I shoot gangster, so I would have to have the whole stick pointing away from me as opposed to just lifting it straight up off the ground
