gamerooster 1,179
Do anyone on here use dogs when out with cattys? Often I have shot a pheasant, pigeon or grey squirrel and it's landed in thick nettles or water, and the same for you lads shooting ducks and moorhens and such, wouldn't life be easier if you had a dog that could retrieve from water? 1Wally 204
Yeah and not only that. They're good for sending on to scare a hiding squirrel back to your side of the tree.

bobcullen79 1,495
Ive got two terriers that will do it when they fancy it. One will when the other wont usually. Just got a lurcher pup which I plan on doing water retrieve training.
Neal 1,857
I use my kelpies as above i.e. locating squirrels and encouraging them around to my side of the tree. It also works the other way around in that a near miss can occasionaly spook one into making a run for it when they'd otherwise stay put.

Have to be carefull when practicing if my bitch finds the ammo she will swallow it, seallowed a few large stones been very lucky though either boffed em up or passed em through the next day.
