zandy01 3,575
Hello all, Have a Canon EOS 600D with kit lens and was wondering what peoples recommendations would be for upgrading my lens, I'm after something of an all rounder for wildlife/landscape ??? I'm only amateur and really only take pics when mooching with my whippet but love photos with high of depth of field... Any suggestions on a budget of £250 max... J Darcy 5,871
To be honest mate...there's nowt decent for that budget...... maybe a 100mm, f 2.8 and a 2x converter.... in the camera world, you get what ya pay for.......
the monkey 338
Don't go down the teleconverters route there poo with a capital p Second hand 300 mm f4 might be nearer budget I,m a Nikon man so don't know canon prices Just re read the post ..the z300mm would be no good for landscapes
mattybugeye 884
I've got a tamron 70-300 I use for wildlife for the price you can't knock em but next would be something with f2.8 nice and fast but extremely costly
mattybugeye 884
I use this one http://www.expeditelectronics.com/tamron-sp-70-300mm-f-4-5-6-di-vc-usd-lens-for-nikon.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAxZKmBRD_5cCvs8SbxXsSJADZBCmd5SkJW6jpOgOAzD09KicNtAC_b2-TPIuNJzR3Ag1K_xoCj07w_wcB

zandy01 3,575
Cheers for the info people... Got my birthday coming up in March so might be wise for me to wait and try and get some cash towards so bigger budget equals better spec/quality lens
Omanyra 2,518
JD is right matie.. But, I had a 70-300mm lens that did the job to an extent in my early days, and it cost me £ off ebay, I had it 4 years and have just sold it on ebay for £70.. So many people focus on the camera rather than the lens..work up to the best lens that you can afford, it will make all the difference to your photography. My main lens is a Nikon 300mm f4, and 90% of the time with a 1.4tc fitted..I only do wildlife though, not landscapes. Happy snappin
zandy01 3,575
would the likes of this be a good upgrade to my kit lens ??? It's a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4 5.6 IS USM http://slrhut.co.uk/product/ID735C11/google?mkwid=DbaOjJ8f&pcrid=40141338716&gclid=Cj0KEQiA6JemBRC5tYLRwYGcwosBEiQANA3IBzHGUkTU5bAP66HWEJBFol2ZsV0vt6npZ5Xi6IyPyTYaAmLP8P8HAQ Edited January 26, 2015 by zandy01

I've been trying to find out the difference but not much info... I've been advised by a photographer to save for this which they say will do the best of both worlds but would appreciated people's thoughts/opinions as its money I don't have but would be prepared to save if worth it ??? http://m.slrhut.co.uk/product/3/11/714 Cheers in advance
Lid 194
Its an excellent lens, but you are restricting yourself the wide angle end by going for the 28 - 300, on a cropped APS-C sensor camera especially for landscapes. The 16 - 300 may a better bet as then you won't need anything else. You do have to accept some compromises by getting a superzoom. However there's some reviews here and it is looking better than its predeccessor. Professional review also here
