denison 1
Hello folks, I've just joined the group hoping to get organised with a bit of long netting.Unfortunately I live in New Zealand and getting nets or even adequate sheep netting is impossible. There are no shortage of rabbits here, and if I could get some nets up and running I would be inundated with offers to go and clear some of them. One other negative aspect of long netting for rabbits in New Zealand is that keeping ferrets is banned. If anyone out there knows of anywhere to get nets or netting in NZ and could share the information I would really appreciate it. Cheers Quote Link to post
denison 1
I didn't mean to type "sheep netting"I'm in New Zealand, What more can I say? Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
havent a clue were to buy down there but if you are to traditional net buy a copy of martin kings, peg to peg it will be money well spent Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Lol, I thought you might of meant sheet netting... Seems a common problem you guys have, getting kit over there. There was an aussie after a locator box but it was just too expensive and nearly just as expensive to import one. However, nets are not all made in factorys.. It`ll take time, but it may be easier to source some twine and knit your own? Obviously not a viable option if you have time against you. But then theres always the option to stick your own price on them and sell a few if they are that hard to come by 1 Quote Link to post
denison 1
If it was only that easy to use sheep netting, I've got paddocks full!It is starting to looking like I'll have to give making one a go. Ever since I bought the Hutcheon book, people have recommended the King one! Cheers Lads Quote Link to post

The one 8,467
Might be expensive buying one or two in but surely used properly and stored correctly they would recuperate the cost over and over again Quote Link to post

Fergus 18
You could try googling 'Haverford netting'' in Sydney Australia. They sell sheet netting and also spun nylon that I used to knit a long net. There aren't too many people that use long nets in my part of Australia and most that do use them in conjunction with ferrets. Kangaroos would smash nets intended for rabbits in many places here at night so it's a bit limited to long netting with ferrets around burrows. I noticed a fair few rabbits around the otago peninsula when I was there ten years ago. All the best Quote Link to post
denison 1
Hello Fergus, I have been in contact with Haverfords as they had some 200 metre net listed on their website. Unfortunately they have sold out and won't be getting any more in unless I order 16 lengths!?!? Cheers Quote Link to post
