rough dog 333
Can someone give me some advice on what bands to use on the catapults I am making and where to buy them ? My mates all want hunting catapults off me so do I go with 11" double theraband gold or 8" ? I don't want to make them myself and I am struggling to find out what is best to use ! Thanks folks
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
11" is way too long mate. I would say 8" as a standard is good. This is why i always use straight bands as it means that people can tailor the bands for there draw length should they need to re-tie them
Guest OutdoorFanatic
Depends were you draw your bands back to. For power I'd cut the bands so when you draw back they won't stretch past your anchor poiny, this way the bands will be stretched to their max. Shoot me a pm if I don't make sense lol
rough dog 333
Thanks for replying lads...where would you recommend getting them from ? I looked on ebay but some look better than others and there is too much choice if your unsure what you need.
1Wally 204
Almost everyone makes their own bud, I've never had any made up. Make some yourself, be cheaper. If you can tie onto the catty it's no harder tying to the pouch. If you need to buy made up just go for some with the best pouches on. rough dog 333
I should make the effort and make my own. ..I enjoy making the frames but I think I would see making the bands as a chore.
1Wally 204
It's a bit of a chore at first but making em yourself means you can have exactly what you want and try out new stuff. A lot cheaper in the long run too.
rough dog 333
That's true mate ..so I need rotary cutter healing matt and the clamp jig set up then ?
1Wally 204
If you want to make yourself a camp/jig set up then do. I just get someone to hold it for me for a minute. The jig would get used if I was making up loads of sets or if I was alone though obviously. Get yourself an A3 cutting matt and a cutter for next to nowt mate. Oh and a steel rule. Sorted.
