flynndog 543
Buy a goldy singing cd and play it to it through the day to it for a couple week. Or get one that does sing and have them seperate rooms so they can hear each other and start calling then singing
fireman 10,987
Give him a chance,it's still earlly in the year and a few haven't started to sing yet and if it's a last years bird then he's still young. You shouldn't need to teach a goldie to sing and he has the song in his genes so he'll sing it when he's ready unless that he is a she ???. If you want a bird to sing all year round then get a mule as the native cocks only really sing every day during the mating season..

fireman 10,987
Ignore all this switty song balony(no offence mule1943) and just keep your mule offspring within ear shot of your cock goldie and they will sing goldie .They will pick up other song as a youngster so carefull what they can here but if it is mainly goldie then goldie song it will be,i say mainly as mine are bred outside and i have other finches and loads of wild sparrows but all my mules have allways sung the song of thier sires until one time i had a canary cock about the place and ruined a flight full of mules as they heard his song as well .Never again will a canary cock pass my front doorway . Like you say he's young so don't push him to much and don't rush into condition, look after him well and he'll last you a good few years mate,

Shamo 319
Some Goldfinches sing better than others, some sing sooner than others and some only sing during the mating season. Over the years I have had Birds right across the spectrum and it has been the reason for giving some away. You want a Bird to sing most of the year, get a Mule and use a CD with a 'Mule Box'. He'll sing when ready, his Beak colour and Feather condition will be a bit of a clue when.
