NEWKID 27,211
Thats very decent of your lady socks, but around these parts, nobody gives a monkies about the aged, take for instance my street, most of em with young families, come summertime, ive even cut their lawns and mowed the grass for em, not all, just a couple of families, thursdays, bin days, i put their bins out, take em in when emptied, if i see anyone coming home from the village with their shopping, ive picked em up, and delivered them to their front door, not one of em, have done out for me, i dont even get a smile from em, my lady isnt in the best of health, so ive my work cut out here, im not whinging, just stating facts, its forecast snow for tomorrow, no one will be knocking on my door, am i a sad 70 year old, far from it, but what a terrible world we live in, Hats off to you Sir....after all said and done we have to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with the person we see so if knowing you do/did the right thing helps make that possible then thats reward in itself as there comes a time in our lives where giving becomes more rewarding than taking in my opinion.......only a selfish person could confuse common decency and courtesy with being sad. But do you trust any of the other parties Gnasher? he is the only one that speaks what we are all thinking....that's how I see it..... I don't think Farage is out for popularity, I think he nails his colours to the mast, whether you agree with him or not. Since Maggie was ousted out of power there's not been a single politician that is strong enough to publicly state policies that they know people will disagree with. IMO for the past twenty odd years politicians in the Uk have been busy trying to please everyone with wishy-washy middle-of-the-road policies that don't mean a thing... I dont go a bundle on politics anymore mate i dont think ultimately its politicians who are going to change our lives but societies themself......As a nation i think we had our chance at changing things through politics and blew it i genuinely have more faith in my fellow man than i have in any group of politicians and think things will get a whole lot worse before they get better as it seems obvious to me that for many Brits things simply havent got bad enough yet to force change in great numbers......i dont think Farage nails his colours to the mast at all as he is typical of his line of work but i agree he is the best of a bad bunch in the times we live in which is a compromise i cant get all that excited about. Agreed on that Gnash, wholesale changes in society, too many are all too quick to grab all they can and give f**k all, not even their time. You don't have to be a rich man to help others, people like socks wife giving her time up for others are real credits to society. Problem with politics is everyone seems to think a party will get in and suddenly the sun will come out, unfortunately mist of us won't change a thing as we're all too wrapped up in ourselves no policy's gonna change that I'm afraid.

Kay 3,709
my daughter once worked at a plush care home for the elderly owned by a husband & wife asian doctors ,there was 12 residents , the asian lady bought the weeks food at aldi personally ,rarely over £30 a week on food £700 a weekly costs for the residents Same here the place I worked at was basically very good .. but care staff regularly took cakes & biscuits in for after tea & even stuff like extra milk , that was owned by an Asian bloke .. strangely enough I have never seen an Asian in a care home , I guess they look after there own ... I think its a poor do when care staff have to buy residents pants .. pay for there hair to be set & get stuff like shampoo & even buy slippers & cardys for the old folks ... some of them get dumped in a home & the family couldn't give a toss about them ... its sad
mackay 3,384
Call me a racist, to be perfectly honest I don't really care, but, before we reduce food to our own elderly people, many who have worked all their days in shitty jobs, the fecking foreign aid should take a hit.

Blackbriar 8,569
Why can nobody put these questions to cameron on camera, I would love to see him squirm, I mean how can our elderly be treated like this, an no one bat an eye lid, beggars beleif Politicians have all manner of awkward questions asked of them all the time. Sadly, they are the masters of speaking for 10 minutes without actually saying anything. They seem to have a genetic inability to use the words 'yes' and 'no', and are obsessed with reducing all meaningful discussion to a 4 second sound bite for the 6 o'clock news. So is the modern age of communication - the only problem being that what we have isn't communication, because communication is a two-way street. We only receive information (and I use that word only in it's loosest meaning), which has been rewritten, reworded and altered to suit the agenda of whoever wants you to believe them. So, we're caught once again in that web of disinformation, distortions, half-truths and lies .............. I'm sure CamMoron could produce a few glib sentences and statistics whereby he could prove that spending on elderly meals has actually increased year on year under his government. As Mark Twain famously observed - "There are lies, damned lies and statistics."

Ossie n Arch 1,682
It's a fu*king disgrace how this country of ours treats it's elderly. Paying the same price for essentials as the rest of us. Shameful. Gas. Leccy, Water, Poll tax. They should all have an OAP tariff. They've done their bit, they shouldn't have to struggle.
