Cuts To Meals, For Elderly.

Recommended Posts

The really sad thing is that this shouldn't be the government's responsibility. Making sure societies less able are warm, dry and fed should really be a part of British society, it used to be. There should only really be a very small number of cases where this is not so and the government need to provide a safety blanket...

I just think when it comes to community issues like this its the people who have the power to change things not politicians ........me and you can do nothing about immigration laws or NHS cuts but we can do something about how the old folk are treated by simply looking out for them with bog standard kindness and community spirit.....sadly for many its an unfashionable thing to do these days but its something we dont need faith in politicians for we can change it ourself.....im no Mother Theresa but i cant stand by and watch old folk in the area suffer and neither should any of us.

The largest part of my problem with politicians is that they don't have to live with the consequences of their policies and decisions.

I reckon that Millipede is worth a few quid, CamMoron is a multi-millionaire (though still not as wealthy as his missus !), while Osborne is as wealthy as the three of them put together. The large majority of the Cabinet were educated at Eton, Harrow and the like and all have lucrative business connections, which will serve them well when they finally abandon the gravy train that is the political life. None have ever done a productive day's work in their life - Millipede lectured at Harvard, CamMoron was an adviser to John Major is about as good as it gets in that regard...........

So, it's not them who have the threat of redundancy hanging over them, or have to accept a zero-hours contact, or have to use a food bank to feed their children, or have to wait hours for an ambulance and even longer at A&E, or face massive hikes in their rail fares, or have their neighbourhoods blighted by drugs and crime, or live in lonely isolation........in fact, they don't have to do ANYTHING that might involve having to spend a few minutes in the real world.

Their whole 'raison d'etre' is to preserve the status quo and thus the priveliged positions of themselves and their circle of friends. Their greatest weapons in this quest to prop up their corrupt system is the daily diet of disinformation, misinformation, distortions, half-truths and outright lies, that so much of the electorate absorb like gullible sponges. And it will remain so, while we have a political elite that has no genuine connection to 'Joe Public', inneven the simplest form.

Believe nothing, question everything, think for yourself - that is what they fear the most. After all, it's easy to tell when a politician is lying. Their mouth moves !!

(I need a lie down now !!)

My missus volunteers for age concern and is always having to go out and by food to make up meals for the elderly she visits ... If I cared to count it I wouldn't be surprised if it came to a couple of hundred quid a month ... She makes cakes most evenings to take around the old folk she visits ... fairly regularly she will make up a big lasagne or a bolognese to share around and then of course she gets the cantankerous old fukcer that states they don't eat that foreign muck so she pops out for some pork chops and knocks them up a quick dinner lol ........

Thats very decent of your lady socks, but around these parts, nobody gives a monkies about the aged, take for instance my street, most of em with young families, come summertime, ive even cut their lawns and mowed the grass for em, not all, just a couple of families, thursdays, bin days, i put their bins out, take em in when emptied, if i see anyone coming home from the village with their shopping, ive picked em up, and delivered them to their front door, not one of em, have done out for me, i dont even get a smile from em, my lady isnt in the best of health, so ive my work cut out here, im not whinging, just stating facts, its forecast snow for tomorrow, no one will be knocking on my door, am i a sad 70 year old, far from it, but what a terrible world we live in,

But do you trust any of the other parties Gnasher? he is the only one that speaks what we are all thinking....that's how I see it..... I don't think Farage is out for popularity, I think he nails his colours to the mast, whether you agree with him or not. Since Maggie was ousted out of power there's not been a single politician that is strong enough to publicly state policies that they know people will disagree with. IMO for the past twenty odd years politicians in the Uk have been busy trying to please everyone with wishy-washy middle-of-the-road policies that don't mean a thing...

my daughter once worked at a plush care home for the elderly owned by a husband & wife asian doctors ,there was 12 residents , the asian lady bought the weeks food at aldi personally ,rarely over £30 a week on food :hmm: £700 a weekly costs for the residents :censored:[/quot...........

And this is not a new phenomena............

Some 18 years ago, I was manager of a residential care home, back in the early days of 'care in the community'. Total weekly fees £370. Weekly food allowance from those fees £14 per person - to provide 3 meals a day,for 7 days.

Hats off to you Sir....after all said and done we have to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with the person we see so if knowing you do/did the right thing helps make that possible then thats reward in itself as there comes a time in our lives where giving becomes more rewarding than taking in my opinion.......only a selfish person could confuse common decency and courtesy with being sad.

I dont go a bundle on politics anymore mate i dont think ultimately its politicians who are going to change our lives but societies themself......As a nation i think we had our chance at changing things through politics and blew it i genuinely have more faith in my fellow man than i have in any group of politicians and think things will get a whole lot worse before they get better as it seems obvious to me that for many Brits things simply havent got bad enough yet to force change in great numbers......i dont think Farage nails his colours to the mast at all as he is typical of his line of work but i agree he is the best of a bad bunch in the times we live in which is a compromise i cant get all that excited about.
