socks 32,253
Emily uses a whip to fish with as a rod/reel were a bit hard for her to learn on. She hooked and landed a 7lb mirror with it. So a competent fisherman should do just fine! Just watch out for weed/lillies. You can't give them as much stick as a rod! I guess it's one rod in the water at a time? If Emily's fishing I'll throw the towel in lol. I do fancy some tiddler snatching but id hate to get snapped off. It took socks months to get over it. Who said I was fukcing over it ... Thanks for the bad memory :cray: ..........

Ossie n Arch 1,682
The reason we have to use the sites pellets and groundbait is because they want to be sure what type of bait is going into the lakes. Not just any old bait. (Or high oil content pellets) You can use any other bait you like, just not any other pellets or GB. Lots of places do it, bit of a money spinner if you ask me. Anyway Joe, did you actually have ANY bait on your hook last year ?? Your result would suggest not. ...............And as regards for Walshie beating me.
bullmastiff 615
Just booked the camping for the 15th and 16th but forgot to ask how much! Any one know how much it's costing to camp for the two nights? And also how much is the fishing comp?
Ossie n Arch 1,682
Not 100% sure on this (Coz i'm staying out of the booking pitches lark) But I think the camping is a £10 night. We'll be down by the lake rather than around the caravans. Make sence what with the potential noise and all that. If the weather is crap, we can use their clubhouse, as long as we leave it as we find it. As for the comp, we all chucked in £15 last year. Which all goes to the Charity, along with whatever extra we raise. Donated prizes for the first 3 or 4 anglers. I'm going over later this week for a sneeky fish and a chat with Rita about the comp weekend.

bullmastiff 615
Thank you. Few more quick questions sorry this is my first proper match! Are we fishing for any fish or just carp or silvers? And if it's any fish can they all go in the same keep net or have carp and silvers got to be separated? I presume it's only one rod in the water at once? Cheers luke. Bunnyblatter 1,012
Sorry lads I can't make this as City are at home on Saturday and I've got my grandson a season ticket and promised him I'd go to all the home games. Can't really let him down on the first one :-( Massive thanks to twobob for the offer of a lift down. If anyone is going on the Sunday and travelling back I'd be only too happy to jump in with them and share the fuel costs
Ossie n Arch 1,682
Feed pellets and groundbait have to be bought from the fishery. Any make of hook pellets and other hook baits are allowed.
bullmastiff 615
I'll probably just be using maggots or luncheon meat on my hook. trying to learn about groundbait and how to use method feeders from YouTube at the minute!! I'll probably just end up float fishing though!
