Muzzleing Ferrets

Recommended Posts

any of you guys still using muzzles on your ferrets, especiallybig hobs to prevent them killing underground, iused tobut the ferrets nowadays dont seem to stick the same, yearsago i used to ring them with silver watch rings, use the brass bar muzzles, the spring muzzles that went behind the killing teeth, ive also seen the old boys snapping the end of the killing fangs to stop the ferret from holding rabbits underground, still see the leather muzzles for sale, but wouldnt bother using them these days probably all out lawed by now.

This practice went out with the cave man There is no excuse to do any of this now that the electronic collar is readily available

Im sure I saw muzzles for sale somewhere so I don't think theyre illegal although they should be. Ive never seen anyone use a muzzle but I did find a hob with his teeth snapped off a couple of years back. Ive never seen the logic in muzzles and teeth snapping, surely a ferret needs his teeth to bolt stubborn rabbits.

Not my thing these muzels,,,,however after watching those films of ferreting in lanzerotte they put a string muzel on,,, and the rabbits live in rock cracks,, caused by the larva from the volcano,,,, in those circumstances I can see the value,,, as there would be no way of digging a ferret out

ive never done it nor would .all your going to have with a muzzle or no teeth is an arse scratcher and never a quick bolting ferret .do the job right and it should be in and out if the ferrets worth his salt same as if he kills in . .a lot of problems with ferrets is from starting em of to young and bred from poor stock
