bobcullen79 1,495
Hey All. Ive just noticed a lump under my terriers jaw, left hand side right up by where the jaw hinges. Its about the size of a cherry tomato. Any ideas? Ive checked her mouth, theres nothing stuck. Do dogs have glands in the throat like humans? As I`m sure I can feel a tiny lump in the same place the other side. Thanks in advance..
sandymere 8,263
Yes they have lymph glands, they become inflamed through local infection of things like lymphoma. Are you sure its not an abscess from a bite.
bobcullen79 1,495
Thats basically what my friend, the vet nurse said. I dont recall her getting bit there and Ive just had a good look, no scabs or bald patches. But it was around 3 weeks ago she received some rat bites to the end of her nose? The lump feels movable to a certain extent. Would a abscess seem static? She`s still eating well, still tearing about outdoors and her turds are fine.., I was told to keep an eye on her other nodes, otherside of her jaw, arm pits and groin and they have not come up. Hopefully its nothing serious. What sort of time span am I looking at before I should take her for a check up? Obviously if things worsen I whip her straight down, but she still seems her somber indoors, hectic full of life outdoors self.
