hare_n_hounds 157
My old bitch started to slow up around 7 , but she made up for lack of pace etc with her brains and experience. Was still as keen as you like a week before put down at 13. The only thing was her body wasn't as keen as her heart was lol 1 Quote Link to post

derekbrown 176
Had a good bull wheaten hound dog, this season he was 7 and started to miss too many foxes,he was trying hard but was always worked hard and had a few old injuries especially a shoulder one and he lost a lot of speed and turning. keepitcovert 842
One of mine is ten now, she picks her runs but the heart is still there as a young un she very rarely missed now ferreting she is still the best dog of the pack great nose always in the right place for bolters theirs no substitute for experience, and she probably catches more than the rest of them, sad when you see a dog in decline, but that little bitch has a special place in my heart and when the time comes she will lay in front of the fire and dream of the glory days. That dog has done me proud and i hope for many more days out with her.YIS KIC. 2 Quote Link to post
