Working Age Of Your Running Dogs

Recommended Posts

Had a good bull wheaten hound dog, this season he was 7 and started to miss too many foxes,he was trying hard but was always worked hard and had a few old injuries especially a shoulder one and he lost a lot of speed and turning.

that's it mate , any old injuries start show through as they get older, I think about 7 a dog stars to slow a bit, that prob the time to bring a pup on or earlier 6 year old

One of mine is ten now, she picks her runs but the heart is still there as a young un she very rarely missed now ferreting she is still the best dog of the pack great nose always in the right place for bolters theirs no substitute for experience, and she probably catches more than the rest of them, sad when you see a dog in decline, but that little bitch has a special place in my heart and when the time comes she will lay in front of the fire and dream of the glory days. That dog has done me proud and i hope for many more days out with her.YIS KIC.
