bird 9,969
I am lucky really, as both my lurcher will go in cover, and few times the one lurcher as held back when the other knocked out the quarry , so in one way ive never need a bushing dog. don't get me wrong a cocker would be great to work with lurcher you get some great sport. and this will shock people the best busher of my 2 lurchers is my big gsd x grey Buck, feck me he goes in any cover, and for such big dog god knows how he gets in tight places. Both my older bitches bush and can really hunt at a good distance but for ground scent a little busher does really out hunt them both can't beat the little tykes true mate ,nothing to touch little dog for this sport, I done lot of beating over the years , and seen dogs working cover, all types terriers, springer's, cockers, etc. , but them cockers they hell of a bushing dog, they will hold back when rabbit + fox bolted , and be great with lurcher , as the terriers get a bit carried away lol and pile in on the rabbits and can fook up your lurcher to bring back long term. maybe the hound x terrier can calm it a bit, but a cocker when proper trained take some beating as said what I seen work. krawnden 1,036
That was a great catch by the lurcher and that terrier is gonna be a little cracker, its doing very well for its age. Hope you don't mind me asking but where did you get it from... i'm hoping too get something similar soon. atb daywalker. Came from skycat on here. Sire is Cricket, her border terrier x whippet, dam is Midge, her mixed ancestry terrier who's got a bit of Russell, Lakeland and Patterdale in her, and about 5 generations back there was beagle and bull I believe. 1 Quote Link to post

Walks are way more fun now I've got the pup - she's really opened my eyes to how much game is under my nose. Regularly flushes woodcock and pheasant as well as rabbits, plus the odd munty and charlie. 1 Quote Link to post

Come's from very good breeding then, rabbiting man has a terrier which is related to yours. iv,e seen it on you tube a real busy type constantly hunting in and out of cover it almost hunts like a spaniel just not as dizzy. a real good little dog. atb daywalker. krawnden 1,036
Nice little team and your pup hunts at a nice pace.......not too fast. My favourite type of hunting by far. In that vid she went at a nice steady pace. But more often than not she goes a lot faster, and if you don't keep a very close eye on her she's in the next county. I'm hoping she'll calm down as she gets older but at the moment I have to concentrate on her the whole time. Quote Link to post

Always find that's half the the battle with young bushing dogs, the other half been recall which yours seems pretty good at. 1 Quote Link to post
