flipbull 1,139
I think you may need a dog like that if your inviting strangers about your yard.... hope he was a genuine bloke as there anit many left...atb watch strangers in vans mate be wary atb My thoughts exactly!!! Nothing wrong with dog Imo, he was more than likely trying to tell you something, didnt like the bloke and he showed it. Big bag of toilet roll is something different thats made him unsure, protecting car is normal. Showing an instant dislike to someone for no apparent reason and id be inclined to think the bloke were dodgy and dog knew it. Bit of advice for anyone on here, any strangers start showing alot of intrest in your dog asking questions and wanting to come round see him, best thing you can do is tell them to feck off or tell them some bull shit, dogs shit, terminal illness, infertile, anything. Do not big your dog up or tell them feck all as you could very well end up losing that dog, atb watch strangers in vans mate be wary atb The fella in the white van is a road worker. There is a stretch of road about 0.2 miles getting worked on right outside my house and the road is closed, he was in 1 of 3 vans parked there, so in other words nothing suspicious. He did say after the dog growled at him thats what you want because if people hear he is doing well they could try and rob him, so I think he was just giving some honest advice. After seeing his face and the way he back tracked I don't think he would ever try. He was telling me a few local places to go where he has had permission and for me to try. My pup is kept in the house anyway. Maybe the dog picked up something I never But I know what your saying about being weary of white vans and bigging a dog up .There are some rats out there. AlwaysRunning 85
From what you've posted sounds like the pup is unsure to me your son coming towards him with pack of toilet roles, it wasn't your son the dog was unsure of/ growling at it was the toilet roles he was carrying as for the builder did he have big padded coat or high vis on?. to a pup anything it hasn't seen before can cause it too growl fight or flight response just like us some fight some run(so too say) and i a animal has no option of running it will fight. As said before the only way to know is read the dog. The fact you say your pup looked at you before it turned its attention back to the builder says he is looking to you to lead him hes asking you is this big builder okay or going to do me harm. Again body language is key in understanding your dog, best advice i can give is get him socialized while still a pup with everything you can dogs objects everything time spent with a pup is well rewarded the more put in the more you get back. For example the pup im bringing on now while on the lead is unsure or other dogs so i make it my business to go over to that dog. If the growl is aggression then it needs correcting before he is fully grown and it becomes alot more difficult to correct.A fearful growl can lead to aggression but best way to avoid this type is to do the above get him socialized, try to nip it in the bud sooner rather than later before it becomes a bigger problem because he is only a pup tells me hes most probably just unsure on a few things at the moment and with time he will come good if well socialized . goodluck and i hope he comes good for you in the future.
