Bit Of Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Wanting a HW95k but do I get .22 at £290 or .20 at £340 ,just cant make my mind up ,money not the problem but calibre :hmm:

Has any body shot a springer in .20 ?.

most people I talk to say use a light pellet because a heaver one will bring you into a light .22 pellet

So in a bit of a dilemma

I would get what you want you only live once . I would not get a 20 or 22 if I was buying a new gun , I have lots or 22 guns one a parker hale dragon in 22 thats shoots at 10.5 ft lbs very accurate very good gun ,in 177 impossible to get and less power 9 ft lbs .That was the only choice I feel to get 22 . If there was a 22 or 20 cal 95 near me cheap I would get it ,but if I was buying new I would get what I want . a gun I would like is a park 93 air rifle in any cal but if I had a choice I would go 177 .I must say I would like a 20 cal gun and a .25 just to see what they are like , but I am in no rush .

Don't know where you got that chart from mate ?

My 3 riffles all zeroed at 40 yards and on average pulling 11.5 , all in 177 @8.4 grain

Only drop from 3.1/2 inches to four inches max ! At 60 yards .And from memory even 10.4 don't drop 6 inches

But the chart don't give pellet weight !

Just a observation

Just bite the bullet so to speak and buy your self a proper air rifle in 177,

I don't have to name the make for you as its in your title on thl , as you know !

I'm sure you will never regret the purchase

You'll never miss again with one of them in your arms

Just remember that other thread I commented on.

Do you really want to pay extra for a transvestite?

If you need a rifle, get it!

But for Gawds sake go for .177

I just like springer's in .22 , I have HW97k in .22 and .177 the .177 is v mach tuned and polished ,.22 has had a polished but so much better to shoot than .177

The .20" was interesting when all that you could get was ,177" or .22". With the interest in .25", the .20" is dying out. Crossman has discontinued the domed .20"s in the brown box and, the .20" Sheridan pump, is no more.

Have a squeaky HW97 BluLam that doesn't get shot very often. About like any other springer. Would still want to get a .20" air rifle. Especially if it was in good condition, used, with the right price. There is a price premium on anything .20". Beeman sells the Weihrauch springers in rebadged form with minor superiorities. Pellets may be hard to find.

Like I said, Airgun Shooter magazine, February 2015, pages 88-89, an article entitled "Know the Score." The pellet weights quoted are 8.4, 13.7 and 15.9 grains in ascending calibre order.

If your rifles are zeroed at 40 yards, rather than the 30 yards used in the chart, then obviously the drop-off to 60 yards would be less, depending on pellet weight and muzzle energy.

The article's written by Nigel Allen, who used Chairgun Pro to generate the stats.
