Anyone played it?

It's the new in thing in football, big on the continent for improving skills etc.

don't know the full ins and ours but I've been asked to join a league by an old mate who's running it, 20mins each way ( I reckon I could manage a half lol)

Just looked it up online looks good, me and a few of the boys from yesteryear have put a 5's team in the local power league, we had one maybe 14 years ago and romped it every season, called ------- all stars, it's much the same team today but called the ------- auld stars, they've changed the rules and its a bit different from our day and the young teams don't like it when we get old skool on them.

Good luck kev!!

Cheers Ross, see how it goes.

Used to love 5 a side played in a few leagues always had a decent side, won a few tournaments in the summers when the clubs used to put them on... Problem is I'm nearing 40 now but still want to be competitive, it does my head on when I can't get there or my heads saying one thing but my legs are doing something completely different lol

We've been playing Tuesday and most Saturdays since May time, and you know when you get the taste for it again? Think we aren't that bad, Anyway got beat our first game and won our last 2 even after I got a 2 minute sin bin for my first tackle last week lol

My mate is still playing 5 a side at the age of 57

Fair play to the man, my uncle still plays the odd vets game and occasional Sunday game at 60, can't walk for weeks after mind lol.

Played a vets game a year or 2 back, under floodlights, pissing with rain, we were winning 4-0 and they put they're super sub on he was 71 lasted 5 minutes but what a 5 minutes, he was everywhere lol.. Had a pint with him after good old boy, great to see it

I made 2 trialest appearances for my mates team beginning of the season, told him I wanted to train to get a bit fitter etc, asked me to go along the Saturday "just to make up the numbers"................ The f***ing first 74 minutes he played me for, won 4-1 scored a diving knee lol, and a screamer where I "beat" 5 players (the ball just broke nicely every tackle and I hit it sweet as a nut) bottom corner lol 2nd game we won 7-2 I came off at half time had scored a barney rubble, front post tap in (IMO still a cracking finish) and a sweet volley from about 16 yards, he was trying to get me to sign but couldn't commit Saturdays as I work every second one, boy did I love it though,

I'll be honest, 10 year ago I'd have ran these wee b*****ds ragged but I'm too heavy now to get about and just float about their half making a nuisance of myself giving sly wee kicks & nips so they don't want to come near me!!

I miss the competitive 5's we used to play. Had a real good side that won at Pitreavie 3 seasons on the trot.

Then my knee decided it had enough of playing football and packed in. Tried to go back a few times but the last time it locked up I couldn't straighten it for about a week and had to hop every where. So work comes first and the boots went in the bin.

I love 5's me this season is a write off because we've came in mid season so it's all about getting back into it, but going from what I've seen, I'll be disappointed not to be contending next season, playing a team made up of juniors the morra, looking forward to a proper do-da with them,
