Pre - Deben Ferret Locator 1975

This ferret locator box was bought by my dad about 1975

 

They were advertised in the shooting times, by a gamekeeper,

 

Price.... About £7 or there abouts, it came with two collars

 

It worked fine and I remember him using it. It used to tick like a deben but would switch to local ratio stations when in use

 

Over the years he lost both collars ,but worked ok with the deben ones

First one i remember seeing was like a short black walking stick contraption.A lot of lads around here used small cheap transistor radio's that would pick a signal up off a deben collaryears ago.

Ive got one the same you charge the collars with a 9 volt battery before you start

Same as tatblisters ,,,,my mate had a cheap little hand held trany,,,,but used deban collars

Some of my mates used the transistor radios back in the 70' with Deben collars. But they had to guess the depth by the volume of the transistor.
