Just Lost A Permission

Recommended Posts

I'd have dialled 999 on the spot and had a Police firearms team down there in a flash. Nobody has a right of any sort to point a shotgun at you. Loaded or not, it makes no difference. He should be in prison. It's not too late to make a complaint to the police Webster. Go and do the b*****d!

Yeah but apart from Charlie's point, it's as I said above, if the tenant didn't have authority to grant permission, then the OP was guilty of Armed Tresspass unless they can prove they had reasonable excuse. The OP might be OK (Shooting Organistaion could advise on reasonable Excuse), but if not, he'd be getting both himself and the other chaps into trouble and if as Charlie said, they denied it, 3:1, could leave him alone it trouble as the only provable offence....

It's as I said before, tread carefully because this could easily turn into a situation where the OP and OP alone is potentially prosecuted...

Even going back onto the land without a gun to video the other guys reaction later could still lead to non armed tresspassing issues. I wouldn't do anything without firm legal advice and even then, it may be better to simply walk away.

If you ever were going to do any filming, I suggest a Gopro on a chest mount with the red indicator turned off rather than using a phone which is obvious and might result in a beating. With a Gopro they might be inclined to simply think you were filming your own activities and might not realise it's still on. Don't forget, they can always take your phone and erase it and they can always say you attacked them and they simply defended themselves. Not everything is clear cut and soemtimes caution is the better part of valour.

Just my 2 cents.

Interesting topic, well worth a bit thought, but rather than an on going fued, that will cause a bit varied agro between the farmer & the land owner, I would put it down to experience and walk awa

I would of called them any way ,that or wrapped the rifles around there necks .   I would still check with the farmer as i think he has the right still to grant permission as he pays the rent for th

There is three of them with there words against his, they will not admit any wrong doing and more than likely say it was him that was acting in a threatening manner. Be better off going and speaking wi

Hmmm.

Bit like running around in circles this thread.

Opinions. 2 cents. Into the mix. Whatever you like............

Damn right

And to add. There's a bloody big difference being potentially reprimanded for armed trespass with an airgun as opposed to being threatened by someone deemed responsible and licensed to own a shotgun.

If your a Tenant farmer/ lease land etc you have the right to control vermin and or authorize someone to do it on your behalf  . You do not however normally have the right to authorize, let,or sell the sporting rights.Case closed, he was granted permission by the tenant for vermin control.Get that in writing from the tenant and tel them to take a long walk!!

Maybe but it never pays to potentially shoot yourself in the foot! All I'm saying here is be careful until you have definite advice that you had / have a right to be on the land irrespective of what the landowner may have said / granted.

Anyone prone to threatening someone will do it again and come unstuck. No reason why you should take yourself down along with them just to prove a point.

..and it's as Charlie said, any allegation by you is likely to be denied by 3 others, so in all probability, without any other proof, no action will be taken.

I was once on a shoot where an anti came up with his dogs and started abusing everyone. He then went away and phoned the police and said he'd been threatened by members of the shoot with shotguns and allegedly they'd threatened to shoot him. The shoot captain reported he got a phone call from the police later at home, he told them it was rubbish and that was literally the end of it, because it was 1 guys word against 1/2 a dozon others.
