So he,s off at the end of the season and I wish him all the luck in the world , it,s been a privilege watching him over the years ,at times he was the closest I have seen to a 1 man team ,he improved every player he played with (Owen and Torres have never been the same without him )and he won trophies that just wouldn't have been won without him in the team .He was in my opinion the best type of captain , one who leads by example ,and I hope one day he will be back as manager , all the best Stevie .

If i was a fan of any other team id be saying he was the best English midfielder of his generation........but its hard to heap praise on someone that broke your heart !

I followed liverpool in the "boys pen" late 60's,then stood with the men on the "KOP", seen some great players and some mediocre,Dalglish is still my best liverpool player ever to pull on a red shirt

Couldn't agree more. The goal against Olympiacos was truly stunning and Anfield rocked to the foundations when that went in

A true legend. On a par with the great Dalglish. The 2 best players ever in a red shirt IMO

He will be sadly missed and I think i speak for football fans in general (united fans are the exception) lol that when I say he is the one player I wish could of lifted the premier league trophy :-(

Probably the most 'complete' football player I've ever seen 'in the flesh', and for me easily the best English player of his generation.

There'll always be a 'what if' aspect to his legacy because of his lack of medals...., medals he probably would have won if he'd gone to Chelsea or Real Madrid etc. but that for me also makes his loyalty to his club & his city even more special. In a game that's too full of the pound chasing mercenary bench warmers and badge kissers, Gerrard's loyalty stands out and I respect that.

Edited to add, he couldnae lace King Kenny's boots

Lol. Kenny was special but Stevie was equally as good in my eyes the way he could grab a game by the scruff of the neck and totally change it

been a very good loyal servant to lfc i always thought he would go on the coaching staff but he do one day i think not a lfc fan but always admired him has a player and when the chips were down he always seemed to find that extra gear to lift the team and that made him a good captain i wish him well always seemed a decent bloke of the pitch to im sure he will get a great send of in his last game

Even as a UTD fan, I know class when I see it and he was class..

The b*****d even made me sit up in bed and cheer him on in the 2004 champions league final, that was an awesome display amongst many others for the club.

It's a shame when a career like his comes to an end, I'm sure he'll still do ok for a year of 2 in the states but his legs aren't there for the prem week in week out, good luck to the man.

He was ok i suppose.

It must be some consolation to you that it took his best ever goal to deprive your lot of your just deserts .
