GruffaloGriff 1,859
Needing a decent hoe/grubber so made this up from a land rover spring and a reaper tooth yesterday. No fancy forging just a welder and angle grinder.

David K 172
That's a smart bit of kit, I have a Chillington hoe, about the same size but without the spike. Great tool for many things from earthing up potatoes to hacking roots in the ground. I reckon you could easily sell that sort of hand made tool for decent money, when you use tools a lot you really appreciate one made to last.

GruffaloGriff 1,859
Thanks guys, it was fun to make and now having had a chanse put it through it's paces it is every bit as usefu as it looks. Makes short work of roots, grubbs up stones well and just general digging/earth moving. Definately a satifaction in using a tool you made yourself you don't get from buying one off the shelf. Even got an unexpected request to make one for a mountain bike enthusiast who says it would be the perfect trail building tool!

GruffaloGriff 1,859
Out of interest GG how long did it take you ..it looks a proper bit of kit .. A bit of the afternoon and a couple of hours in the evening so recon 5 hrs max. Head scratching time included in that so a second one would be faster.
