villaman 9,983
Been thinking buying a HW95K in .20 ,but after going on chair gun and putting in different weights of pellets in each cal ,I have come to a conclusion is there any point in .20 cal. would like to know what you think Edited January 3, 2015 by villaman Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
bigger pellet than .177 flatter flight than .22 meets in the middle? Edited January 3, 2015 by smithie Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Not that much flatter than .22 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
No. No point for you. Its a nice size to choose if your undecided on 22 or 177 I guess, but I know you know how to shoot either 1 Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
is there many pellets in .20? might be less to chose from Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
I've got a Theoben gas ram in .20 and to make best use over a .22 of the same power I use lighter pellets, superfield and h&n ftt's. These fly at around 700 FPS from a 12 ft lb rifle and are noticeably flatter than a 12 ft lb .22 past 30 yards. They certainly seem to hit just as hard from what I can tell. Many a vermin has fallen to it over the 20 odd years I've had it. 4 Quote Link to post
magnummike 39
As rimfireboy says stick to light pellets in .2O H&Nftt's just over 11 grains for the advantage of flatter shooting and still harder hitting than a .177 . But it is a gamble on this pellet suiting your barrel as the rest of the .2O are in the light weight .22 category so loosing the advantage that the .2O brings . But then again sod it just get the 95 sounds like a good excuse to get anoyher lovely rifle Ive just got myself a nice HW8O and got a HW98 heavy barrel in .2O to go on it must be the only one around I recon Bloody big thing though Edited January 3, 2015 by magnummike 1 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
Being a sceptical kind of person I look at .20 as being something of an oddball. You could say it does some things better than .177 and others better than .22. You could also say that it does some things worse than either calibre. You have less choice of pellets too. Think of .177 as the girlie calibre, accurate but sweet and fun. .22 is the bruiser, manly and hard hitting at short range. That makes .20 a bit of an in betweeny, like a transvestite really. 4 Quote Link to post

RiverRomper 15
Hi Villaman, saw your other post. There is no point to .20". You simply get .20 caliber fever and up and buy one. There's a reason the .20" is still around. Take a thermos of coffee and knock squirrels out of trees. A .20" HW 77 with aperture sights would be interesting. A Watts tuned Beeman R1 in .20" set to 15-16fpe might be the sweetest pellet rifle there is. Regards, RiverRomper PS. Own neither of the aforementioned. Can still daydream about it. 1 Quote Link to post
