wezza 396
Lads I got a concrete base laid last summer for my kennels, this was supposed to slope towards the drainage I had put in. However the cowboy that done the work has made a right balls up and when I'm cleaning kennel there is standing water due to a total uneven surface which does not fall towards the drains. How can I sort this out? Any advice would be great

Rabid 1,936
Another way is latex self levelling compound, but that will only take a few mm out at a time, and it would need to have the rough sort of falls right as it would cost a fortune to change the falls with the stuff, if its miles out I would go for the tile option mate. wezza 396
Many thanks for the replys lads.. I was thinking of going down the tile option. I guess a decent tiler could make a fall up to run towards the drain then tile it?
Rabid 1,936
I can't see the drainage, how much was it out ?
wezza 396
The drainage runs along the back of the kennel along wall where the pop hole is. It's out in various places rabid, if I spray the base with hose it seems to pool up in various places as its so uneven. I then have to use a brush to flush it away.. P5HEN 168
it your'e going to re screed it make sure its a nice thick bed, a thin layer of mix will eventually crack and lift away from the bed underneath, and always use granite in the mix, makes a stronger mix
Fellman Mark 611
Hello Re cement it with a fibre reinforced mix and polish it of will end up like glass if done right with very little soaking in to it add a damp proofing additive Edited January 2, 2015 by Fellman Mark
Rabid 1,936
As above, not too thin, plasterer or render guy, do NOT polish it off as it will end like like glass, and just as slippy, those dogs need some grip.. Seems to me the general fall is right, just a few low spots that are holding the water ?
Fellman Mark 611
Hello I've polished mine and never had any problem with my lurchers or terriers slipping on it and with the correct mix you can feather it down nicely carnt give my thoughts on the levels without seeing it
Chid 6,645
Why not ring your local quarry/ concrete plant and see who they recommend or use ...
