unlacedgecko 1,466
Don't get too used to it folks, as soon as the Russians are on their knees and the US shale companies are out of business Aramco will force the price back up. Very unstable market right now. A good time to be investing in oil futures though...

Not a great time to be employed by a company that specialises in unconventional resources and a high crude price though! LOL LOL The price will go back up mind. This current dip is completely unsustainable by all but the Saudis really. Most of them are operating at a deficit to remain competitive.

I reckon its all a plot by the US to destroy the Russian economy. The only problem with investing is futures are done in lots of 1,000 barrels, with a price of $60/barrel its still out of my budget (just!).

Unfortunately I haven't much interest in investments, but this one looks very good to me. I agree with you on the politics. The Saudis can manipulate the oil price with American backing as an economic weapon to attack Putin while at the same time damaging their own competitors, strengthening their position in the market. What's a little uncertain to me is how the industry will be effected... but the price will have to recover. Edited December 31, 2014 by Born Hunter
