Tx 200 Mk3 Question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I`m considering putting a springer into my cabinet with my HW 100`s.

My choice of springer is down to HW 77 and 97 and also the TX 200 mk3 - all in .177 cal. Cant seem to find out though if the TX 200 mk3 comes from the factory with the 12 groove Lothar Walther barrel as the AA Pro Sport does (also a gun in consideration).

TX is very heavy scoped up but that is exactly what i want for hide/ shooting stick hunting. The TX is right up there at 11.7 ft/lbs with top drawer accuracy to boot.

I have a 97k and a tx 200 mk 2 .I like the plain finish of the 97k and its ease of operation .I like the long reach of the trigger .I dont like the fact it cannot decock the rifle [ with out adjustment ].The tx I dont like the fancy stock and the trigger .It does shoot smoothly and can be decocked . These are both nice guns and the difference is minimal but the 97k has the edge for me. My tx mark 2 has the smaller air cylinder and is supposed to be the better tx .The 77 has a long barrel and no moderator . A short barrel is better on a spring gun . I would still like a hw 77

Mark im not sure about the barrel on the tx but iv had all the rifles you have put down apart from the 77(witch im going to get some time) but by far the best i think is the pro sport just the way it feels and shoots and the balance is perfect for me any way ,.

And when its laming season and im called up to take out the crows the pro sport stands tall above the rest the 97 is a good rifle but the wait of it puts me off your shoulder is fecked after you have shot 387 crows in three days but they were down to the pro sport as i put the 97 a way, for what you want the pro sport would suit you down to the ground go and shoulder one but shoulder it as if you were shooting up at the top of a tree do it with all of the rifles you have mentioned .

the pro sport is to me any way lighter than the rest but not much and the under leaver is easier to get at if your in a rush to reload .

Don't rule out the pro sport try one if you have not all ready dune so i think you will get a surprise at how good they feel

iv just order,d another in 177 and with beach stock this time i was going to get it for Xmas but Xmas took to much Wonga off me but ill have her in two or three weeks

Thats three ill have had

what ever you end up with most off all enjoy and stay safe

Have to say the Prosport is the best looking spring underlever rifle out there. It is honestly gorgeous. But I reckon a well-sorted HW77 like mine will more than match it for long-range accuracy. But that might be more down to individual shooters and skill levels. I've never had any problems with the HW77's weight on a full day out shooting but, I'm not exactly lightly built either!

In fairness, both rifles are more than enough accurate for any shooter's demands on his rifle. But HW really do it right for me. Air Arms are very nice, better looking but, somehow, not as good in my experience.

If you get along with an HW77 rifle, you won't really want for any other !

Simon if i ever come into some money im going to buy a new pro sport and have a custom sporter stock in left hand made for it and im going to send it off to you as a gift once it is tune,d and polished so you can see just why iv fallen for the pro sport.

As you no iv been a fan of the 97 sporter all my shooting life love them to bits and i would not take any thing a way from them nice to shoot and to hold but there is just some thing about the ps that suits me .

And at the end of the day if im honest the only one that puts the biggest smile on my face and others at the range is the 97 .

had a lad not so long ago who came over when i got the 97 out and say,d he was saving up for one and that it was a cracking looking rifle i had .

Have you ever shot one i say,d no was his answer so i past it over and he used it all day he fell in love with it its funny but when you pull out a 97 at any shooting range you all ways get some of the other lads crowding around you and asking questions about them lol

Im getting mine back off my son in law once iv payed for the new pro sport iv never had a 77 but iv got a funny feeling i may own one soon very soon and it will be one of the older ones

I no you rate them highly and if there good enough for the springer king then there good enough for me.

wishing you both a happy new year Simon have a good one and dont get to drunk lol

Thank you lads for all the advice and experiences.

Big Mac 380 odd crows in 3 days with a Pro Sport - no wonder you rate them so highly (superb shooting Mac  ).I am on hold now until i shoulder the pro sport and shoot it down at my local range.

The HW77 is an outstanding rifle and the HW 97 is - i`m slowly getting there.

Simon - you know your springers/ competition well mate and yes the 77 is well up my list. So i`ll try them all down at my range now as i know the lads have these rifles.

All the best to you all and a happy new year :D

Mac you are a kind fella and a great sporting shooter. If I had the money to spare I'd buy you a Prosport on the strict proviso you never sell it.

Seriously, it would be good for you to get an HW77 snug onto your shoulder and out for a good long spell out in the fields and down range and see how you like it. I reckon it'll really prove a revelation to an accomplished spring rifle man like yourself.

You deserve a great rifle Mac. Get one out and see what you've been missing! (Terrible pun! Sorry!)

The very best to you and your family in 2015 mate.

Simon

Mark all the very best to you and thank you mate. You too should get an HW77 in your favourite calibre and get shooting with it. Good shots at your club know what they are on about and they are owning this rifle for good reasons. One of them will surely let you try his HW77 and you'll see what makes this rifle a legend.

All the best to you too Mark in 2015

Simon

Tuned HW of the 97 model will be all you need. I would of said 177 myself mate, but I'm getting on so well with the twenty two calibre at the moment, I can't say the 177 is any more precise to be honest. At my club shoot over Xmas I came out with a score of 59 with it. Fifty nine! With a 22.
