Matthew Phillips 36
Hi guys, If i part ex my rifle in a shop for a rifle of the same caliber can i do this in one day? Or do i have to take mine in, apply to police for removal from my license, then go back to shop when license comes back and collect new rifle? The reason i ask is that my police force is utter sh!te in doing anything (currently 7weeks and still waiting on some land to be cleared for 22lr). In theory if i sell the old rifle to the shop, remove it from my ticket, then the same day take the new one off them. So i never actually end up owning two rifles at once... or is that not how it works. Many thanks Matt Quote Link to post
the cheater 1
Afraid not..you do have to put in a 1 for 1 variation,or apply for the new rifle you want before selling/part ex'in your old 1 Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
When I put in for a one for one variation I still had to have the new rifle on my certificate before swapping the old one. My Firearms dept. did not insist that I got rid of my old one right away, gave me time to advertise it, just ask. Quote Link to post

Matthew Phillips 36
This will be a like for like. Remington 22wmr for a Mauser 22wmr. I'll call them first thing tomorrow morning to check the details. Quote Link to post

Selling him any rifle before you buy does not unfortunately free up a slot, that has to be done by your region. This exact issue has been discussed by various shooing bodies and the police, in the hope that the law could be changed so that RFD CAN do simple 1 for 1 like this themselves, but at the moment the can't!
