heritage 202
Having spent years importing snare components I'm in a good position to tell you the truth,... There's nothing that you can get in the states that can't be bought in the uk if you look hard enough, A lot of the products sold are simple everyday items that have been re branded for the snare builder ...what components aren't available can be easily made allowing you to produce a perfectly useable wire,.... Save your money & when you do need consumables buy british & support both uk companies and our own economy..... Atb. 4 Quote Link to post

heritage 202
There are hundreds of companys all over the uk that sell wire rope & a basic Internet search will point you in the right direction,.... I haven't purchased any for a while now but I'd Reccomend someone like handystraps or ropeco. Quote Link to post
IanB 0
Handystraps are good in the uk for wire.. you can make all your own eyes if you wish, and just use nuts hammered on for crimps, plastic sleeves for holding onto your tealer..they work the same regardless... If you can't be bothered to make your own eyes, just get some micro locks there excellent. Quote Link to post
heritage 202
I went passed the stage of ordering from the states a few years ago although I still have stock of the more popular items,... I now use mostly home made products including my own swivels, washers & locks.... Buying uk products or using good quality home made products can offer quite a reduction in snare costs. I don't put swivels on any snares as there built into my anchors..saves some hassle. Quote Link to post
nod 285
I still have some locks what you sent me heritage, still catching well and just reuse them. Quote Link to post

Fair enough, you would save money making your own snare parts, but not everyone has the time, ability, or tools to make their own swivels, locks e.t.c! Indeed, time alone is a major factor in just sourcing components in the UK, apart from those which can be purchased from UK online trapping/snaring supplies! So i too would buy from USA, when needing that much gear! Maybe go down the other route when you have time, and collect more gear, try make your own components, and sourcing material at lower prices! Edited December 29, 2014 by EDDIE B Quote Link to post
heritage 202
The quantities mentioned above isn't really a lot,....it's probably amounts to a couple of small packets at most,.. The way it works with the postal weight when importing means it's more beneficial to buy thousands of components at a time to maximise your weight allowance and get real value for money... Wire / crimps / locks / swivels / stops,... There all available from uk suppliers such as arrow anchors or Fourteenacre, you place your order and recive your parcel within a couple of days...simple. Plus you have to bear in mind that a lot of the American components require specialist tools if there to be applied correctly, I invested in a bench mounted swager from the states as opposed to hammering but when using uk bought components its much easier to find the correct tools that are required for assembly....
