downsouth 7,579
I can remember various rough coated lurcher running around my estate in Faversham in the late 70s early 80s getting shagged by the vaious other mutts that got booted out to run the estate.Us kids used to nick food for them cause we thought they looked starving. It was 10 or so years later when I got into working dogs that I found out from older mates that they were sons and daughters of the legend Toby AKA The hoover. 1 Quote Link to post

fluff 409
i was a kid in the late seventies and everywere was sniding with hares ,we used to have little contests , was nothing for 4 to 7 people to walk the stubbles and course hare the age group was 14 to mid twenties we had some laughs and got chased by the farmer on some land but hares there was plenty, great days and care free , never thought they would treat you as a criminal for chaseing a hare with a dog, glad ive had plenty ,83 we got norfolk types they could catch a hare good alround dogs, better than what we had before ,we used greyhounds ,mongrels, any thing that ran , great days good read about the hoover Edited December 28, 2014 by fluff 3 Quote Link to post
fluff 409
most of the boys who i grew up with dont have a dog ,but there a few more hardier ones who love the game , and havent went the way ,of i have a gun now i have to be a real good boy and get rid of the nasty lurchers ,and have a spaniel lab , i dont let them forget , if i bump into them ahah ,wur o jock thamsans bairns ,as they say in the north ,but then alot were not real dog men and just followed an eighties ninties cult , having a running dog , 1 Quote Link to post
