Matthew Phillips 36
Guys, Making a homemade smoker and am using vegetable oil. Only issue is that I can seem to stop the oil from lighting. It also just keeps dripping out the end. Any ideas what could be wrong? Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
Bit puzzled now, why would you use cooking oil in a smoker? TC Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
alter the angle of the oil can so its not sitting parralell with the gas and feed tube IF its running out on its own ( put bottom of oil same as gas can), if not dont feed as much and it might not drip out. i might of had a longer pipe on the end after the coil to get deeper in the hole and i think you can buy cheaper oil than £1 a litre for cars, its crap for the car but might be less than your paying for the cooking oil. Matthew Phillips 36
The reason i used cookie oil was that there was a big carton in the kitchen and i pinched some hoping the wife wont notice. I'll make the modifications and then try again. Cheers guys. Quote Link to post
