Lab 10,979
All I did was dog them off every morning as soon as they came down off roost so early starts dog them off every evening and [bANNED TEXT] the moon was right pushed them off during the night was hard work and had to sneak about a lot due to it being a boundary but all payed off [bANNED TEXT] on shoot days guns were happy Luckily I don't have that problem now but it'll come in handy if I move on Any one can look good on easy shoots but when the hard work comes in on big shoots that's when your true lads shine. Eg downton castle has gone down hill cuz the main man left and other blokes didn't put effort in allot of lads I've seen from college just want to walk round wear the suit and shoot vermin not all but majority border hunter might be a decent lad but I had to work my way up from the bottom living in a shit hole caravan and working for a pittance wage and I survived so just winds me up [bANNED TEXT] folks want too cherry pick You'd be popular then if you were next door to me....?? border-hunter 29
I never wanted to cherry pick or expect anything I done 12 week free on a rearing field to get the job, then started got the experience, realised commercial wasn't for me, made a mistake of leaving before I sorted a job and now help a local lad, do my own vermin run traps and fill hoppers on my permission for farmer free of charge because game keeping is my passion, don't need a mouthful I know I made the mistake of leaving I realised that ages ago! But couldn't give a toss what you think mr big where you working now then king keeper Quote Link to post
danw 1,748
First hand feeding Birds are fed twice a day morning feed takes birds to covert evening feed pulls birds back to roost Second hoppers Hopper fed birds can be a bit more trouble some but as Bernie says leap frog hoppers from roost to covert then dog covert back to roost in a evening All the above is massively simplified and assumes the drives and position of pens has been considered young and old roost identified leak points attended to and about a thousand other things I can't be bothered to type Belgianhunter if you are in the uk and fancy a day looking at a shoot drop me a pm and come and have a look I don't have all the answers but 25 years of keepering gives a fair idea and it is far easier to show some one than try and explain in a few lines on here 7 Quote Link to post
