dymented 2,220
If the wild life police haven't got a clue on how the law stands what chance as any one got of any justice ?? It is 100% legal to lamp at night its 100% legal to use dogs for rats /rabbits or to retrieve a shot hair or fox you can also use a dog to flush a hair or a fox it states it all in the hunting act if they would take the heard out of there arse and stop listening to the shit the rspca tell them look it up on the .gov website no wonder so many people get harassed by the plod
RossM 8,121
Had it before... "You do know it's illegal to hunt using dogs?" "I'm a shooter blah blah blah" "well officer I suggest you go away and read up on the law because a misguided fool a with a gun is far more dangerous than one with a dog" .................. (Insert awkward silence here) Edited December 22, 2014 by RossM

dymented 2,220
i have it time and time again the police think they know it all in February this year while out ferreting they came running over to the 4x4 that was parked in the field trying to open the doors i made my way over to see what the problem was ,It was two female pcs from operation galileo they started to shout stay there we have got you for hair coursing at which point i plainly told them how many hair courser have they seen that use terriers ,so next it was we got you for badger digging, bearing in mind i was on written permission so i showed them the paperwork then i showed them the holes we were ferreting and the dead rabbits ,the first wpc was balling her eyes out telling me how cruel i was for killing the rabbits while the second one was telling me its totally illegal to hunt with dogs and she was going to do us for it . i got fed up by this time and told them to go and get some one who knew the law Then low and behold anther wildlife officer turns up has a few words with the two wps and they proceed to search the field i was in to see if they could get me on something unfortunately they could not .But it goes to show that the police employ complete numpties ho do not no the law .
neil cooney 10,416
It sounds like half your day was also wasted Dymented. If I was constantly getting that sort of harassment I'd have the Hunting Act laminated with the necessary sections highlighted always in my vehicle. It might help speed things up.

3175darren 1,101
All this is because they are sending townie bobbies who have no idea, where as the community bobby gone, the one who has seen it all,the bloke who knows all the farmers, and the locals with no more medals to win, they teach them text book these days, and leave out the common sense, because to mention common sense is to discriminate, against them who don't have it, it will get worse as time goes on,when I phone up to let them know I am lamping now, they ask for the date of birth of the guy I am taking with me Why?????, the simple comment she made to you that it was cruel, meant she wasn't impartial, truth is a lot of them have not got the life skills of the old community police officer had, that officer was of real value to a community,we are up against it truly, more and more so as a lot of the really experienced officers are leaving, so there's no one left, to balance there opinions with a bit of good old rational,
Neal 1,873
I remember hearing about someone who was once accused of lamping...while walking their Staff with a normal hand torch. I was also pulled over once while walking between Torver and Coniston with a lurcher at heel and an old gas-mask bag over my shoulder and was asked what was in the bag. To this this day I regret not saying, "half a roe buck and a dozen rabbits," or, even better, refusing to say so that I could waste his time back at the station...and then reveal a tin of oil pastels and a sketchbook!
Poacherspocket 189
Just read that. In my dads pub last week a guy who i know on a personal level who deals with all the firearm certificates in the barnsley area got into a debate with me about hunting with dogs and he was trying to tell me i was breaking the law lamping bunnies on permission with one dog. If people like him dont know the law were f****d !

RossM 8,121
Have I ever told the story about taking plod on a 10ish mile round trip 3 times (the same route 3 times) before they realised and put the blues and twos on you might have told it but i have not read it.. tell it again please Few years ago, was on way to permission, just got out the town and onto country roads when my uncle (who was driving lol) noticed a car behind us staying back a bit. Now it's not rocket science it's gonnae be either farmer who'll know the roads a taxi driver taking a short cut who again will know the roads or plod..... Who knows f**k all, so we get to a cross road take a right and go round in a circle of country roads & tracks etc, the car is still behind us so think f**k them, same route once again and the b*****ds are still there, set off once again get maybe a third of the way (just to a thin track) and the grill lights up, by this time I'm poorless!! Some Australian or South African accent asks where we are going to which my uncle replies "lamping.... Do you know where you're going?" "That's illegal blah blah blah" to which my uncle (takes no shit btw) replies "it's on permission, it's rabbits so naw it's no, and before you ask naw I've not got my documentation so geez the ticket and f**k off" And they did......
Bosun11 537
The simple truth of the matter is that the Police will always make a 'mistake' and get the law a bit wrong, they know shit sticks and once read will encourage people to report in. They probably have had a few more reports of lampers round Frodsham (which most weekends is like Blackpool!) and rather than deploy more staff they'll get Joe Public to help. Thing is, this time the complaints came in about it and the've been forced to back track but mark my words, they don't give a toss, they know the damage has been done. But now we know, so stay safe and give Frodsham a wide berth...!
