secretagentmole 1,701
Now I know my sister moved to Wales. I know that in some parts of Wales (especially near Bangor) it is like bleeding Deliverance. But when you buy a brand new sat nav you at least expect it to have the town where she lives (Wrexham, or Wrecsham for the ones who like using all the letters in the Scrabble box) to actually be in a brand new Sat Nav. But no the Garmin NU52LM refuses to accept that Wrexham (Wrecsham) actually exists. now I know it does, I have actually been there. There is a Sainsbury's, an Aldi, you know it is a fairly big place! But no according to the Sat Nav it does not exist! I tried to update the software and the maps. According to the Garmin software I succeeded. but Wrexham (Wrecsham) remains missing (ar goll), vanished (diflannu), annihilated from the face of the planet (dinistrio oddi ar wyneb y blaned), blame Google for any translation errors (beio Google am unrhyw wallau cyfieithu).... secretagentmole 1,701
Postcode exists on smart phone and on Google Maps. Bloody should do the estate is about 40 years old! No, the Garmin is a pile of shite! Tried the postcode, does not exist, street name, does not exist, suburb name, does not exist, bloody town name, Wrexham or Wrecsham (tried both) does not exist. The entire conurbation does not exist according to Garmin! Edited December 21, 2014 by secretagentmole
secretagentmole 1,701
I am starting off at an address in Norfolk. The destination is in Wales. Wrexham is the only place in the country called Wrexham (or Wrecsham). There is no Wrexham in the satellite navigation memory. Now that, when you consider that this useless piece of plastic is supposed to have full Europe road maps, is a bit of a fecking disadvantage!
secretagentmole 1,701
We bought this as we are going to see my sister, who is recovering from breast cancer and a masectomy. She has recently moved into a smaller bungalow. As an aid to navigation it is up there with the ice fireguard!
tsteve9999 456
I remember a few years ago using one to find a mates house not that far from me, and it made a 5 mile journey a 25 mile one, I've never trusted the things since.
